I watch a lot of movies. A lot I just tend to forget about once they're done. I probably only saw this 2-3 times but 20 years later, a lot of it sticks with me. Available to stream as a rental finally.

This was in some weird movie purgatory for years and while still have a DVD of it kicking around somewhere, I have not seen it in a while. But I remember it being remarkable. Utterly strange but also so beautiful and emotionally affecting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC4Z...

Fair, but also, it's still weird. (We all have a crush on Gillian Anderson.)

Apparently, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma has become a comfort movie for me and yes, I know that's weird.

There are three October movies I watch every year -- this one, the original Halloween & Ghostwatch. Those last two, preferably on Halloween itself.

I decided it is time to watch Mad Monster Party? again since I have no attention span for anything new. But first I needed to put up the Halloween decorations. MMP wasn't released anytime near Halloween, weirdly, and it's ... it's own thing ... but it's a delightful novelty.

And when the A/C or heat doesn't run, it can get a bit stuffy (I could just run the fan but that's electricity I don't want to use). Not that big of a deal in the end. Just a little annoyance.

My one complaint about my apartment is that the only "window" in the main living space is the sliding glass door to the patio. So if I want outside air, that's the only option. Completely fine while I'm in the main living space but I can't open it overnight.

We didn't have that excuse.

This was decades ago and I did a corn maze with my mom, my brother and my grandfather. We were all so bad at it the staff had to check on us since we were taking such a long time. We were all smart people so I don't know what the issue was. We did eventually make it out. Obviously.

Related, but this movie is available to rent/buy on streaming and it's a beautiful movie. It will be one of the best movies you've seen. It is weird and beautiful and I love it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC4Z...

Is Eva perfect? Absolutely not. It's a mess, even including the reboot movies. But that's why I love it. It's a person trying to work out his issues while still making something entertaining. It's really one of my favorite works of art.

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

I love Evangelion so much because it was Hideaki Anno working through his mental health issues in a very public way and he had a budget to do so. Look, therapy is cheaper (I think he did get therapy, though) but also, make art people can relate to.

I tried to find a craft show that was at a park but ... the park is gigantic and there were no signs as to where it could be. I did walk about 2 miles, though, so that was nice. So I came home and decided to put together my Lego Halloween wreath. I did and it was fun.

It was one my classic Halloween costumes -- I was probably 3 or 4. I still have that cape (it clearly does not fit anymore.)

Please don't go back in time and show 17-year-old me The Company of Wolves because she would be insufferable about it. Little Red Riding Hood is my favorite fairy tale.

100

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

I don't have Alien or The Wicker Man on my October Vibes list, though. You can only watch The Wicker Man in the spring/summer. Alien just feels separate. (I do have Dark Star on the list, though. Is that horror? Not really. It's my list, though.)

000

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Horror contains multitudes and I'm glad I learned that. Some of my favorite movies are considered horror (Alien, Halloween, The Wicker Man).

100

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

There was a long time where I didn't think I liked horror movies. But then I learned that I'm just as selective about the horror movies I like as I am with ... all movies. Like saying "I don't like horror" is like saying "I don't like comedy."

(Also, as ever, make fun of M. Night Shyamalan all you want, but making fun of his last name is racist and lazy. Also especially since he gave himself the name of "Night" and that's right there. Also, he's kind of redeemed himself anyway. Sort of, maybe.)

000

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

So buy it on sale or ask a friend/relative to buy it for you as a gift. I mean, it's probably worth it if you buy it at full price but it does seem silly. It works, though, from what I've read, and from what my brother has told me.

000

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

So I emailed him and said "Hey, I was going to put this on my Christmas list but it's cheap now so ..." It's on its way. I'll open it to test it (to make sure it works) but it'll be mid-October by the time it gets here and that's close enough to Christmas. Sort of.

I still want to move back there eventually. It's still a cool place! And while the cost of living has increased, it's still cheaper than a lot of places.

There are a lot of October season movies I want to see like, The Devil's Backbone, The Hunger, and In the Company of Wolves but none of those are weeknight movies. Cemetery Man might've been but I opted to not watch that tonight.

I am trying to get better at meal planning and having food on-hand to make into actual dishes. And they don't need to be fancy. Sometimes pasta and jarred sauce will do just fine.

I made soup yesterday and froze most of it. I made chili today and same (that was the intention). I also did laundry. If I do nothing else this week, I think that's pretty good.

What's your favorite (writing) pen? Mine is the Zebra Eco Sarasa Clip Retractable in the 0.5mm, at least for every day. I do love those Grand ones for when I feel fancy.

000

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I was just thinking "well, it's normal to have a favorite pen" but is it? Is this something most people have? (Like not the sample size of people who are reading this.)

Maybe the right person has just been waiting for the perfect tattoo. I mean, I'm confused, yes, but you never know. (None of my tattoos were from a flash sheet but also, I don't judge.)

010

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

There are other Moomins ones but I am not made of money. How many pens do I need? (I mean, all of them, but ... )

100

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Yes, I did just spend $21 on a pen, but those are my favorite pens anyway (I have many of the regular ones) and they're refillable. (The regular Sarasa Grand ones aren't that much cheaper.)

Eden @edencosmic.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

(also, this friend always would joke with people he wanted to get an extensive back tattoo of the California Raisins. He didn't do that but it was still funny.)
