City centers should not be a drive through, they should act as a shared living room.

Understood. You're right that, technically speaking, it wasn't an actual ruling; they just stated they already agreed with the idea of corporate personhood. We can quibble over whether or not it's correct to interpret it that way, but the downstream effect is that it has been accepted like a ruling

Several legal scholars seem to agree that SCC vs. SPRR was the culminating decision because no SCOTUS case prior specifically stated that corporations were natural born persons. There were, however, decisions prior to this one that said corporations were artificial entities.

It's more than Citizen's United. It's a 1973 SCOTUS decision that said money spent on political campaigns = speech and an 1886 decision that said corporations are the same as natural born persons. There are a lot of decisions to undo.

Good move to push for an amendment to overturn Citizens United, but the Buckley vs. Valeo decision in the 70s ruled that money spent on political campaigns is speech, meaning the more money you have, the more speech you have:

Per federal data, transportation is a primary driver of financial volatility for American households. It's the 2nd-largest household expense after housing. The avg annual household spends $13,318/yr or 17.0% of HH spending. It's 30% for the poorest households. LEGALIZE TRANSPORTATION FREEDOM!

That's good, but I still scratch my head that they got elected in the first place and then re-elected, which is my question. Why? The nut-job wing of the Republican Party played a 45-yr long game to get us to this point. Don't let them do the same.

Good news. Questions from a curious Yank: Why did Pollievre, Danielle Smith, and the Ford brothers get not just elected but re-elected anyway? These takeovers always start small. The nut-job wing of the Republican Party played a 45-yr long game to get us to this point. Don't let it happen there.

Yes. Adam Smith said that capitalism required heavy regulation to prevent abuse. That part is always ignored. If the US had stronger constitutional protections, we may not be here. There was no way a bunch of guys 250 years ago, despite their best efforts, would have been able to foresee everything.

The unfortunate reality is that cities can no longer afford to continue to subsidize parking. When transportation policy at all levels makes everyone dependent upon driving, this is the kind of mess we get into.
San Jose tried to pull a fast one. They are trying to pass a change to the budget where Parking meter pay time extends to 9pm from 6pm and hourly rate doubles.
“the department leaped ahead and factored in $1.2 million in parking meter revenue and an estimated $70,000 in parking violation fees annually into the budget without discussing the potential ramifications”- SJ Spotlight
