A new paper from the Park Grass #LTE has shown that polyculture can actually mitigate against #environmental risks (weather variability & #soil treatment) that usually threaten monoculture. This has implications for systems #agroecology.  See the paper: tinyurl.com/r7vabprp

About 2 wks ago ECT trustee Dave Stone visited the N. Irish #LTE Hillsborough as part of a @jncc.bsky.social trip.  This gave him & his colleagues a chance to discuss the potential of the plots to illuminate the slurry’s effects on the soil biota.  bit.ly/HillsboroughNI 🌏

A new paper from the BIFoR-FACE #LTE at @unibirmingham.bsky.social shows that elevated CO2 increases the biomass & changes the morphology of the fine roots of trees. This implies that forests adapt to the increased CO2 & remain a carbon sink. Read the paper: tinyurl.com/2sj8ccea 🌏🍁
