My early adopter status started in 2016 w/ a 2-yr old $10,989 used EV carrying 3 yrs of factory warranty. They've always "been affordable," if you knew how to shop. I charged exclusively at work for 3mo before adding a charger + solar at my home. I could easily love without home charging today.

Well, I legit made use of the Kia's V2L yesterday after the Fiat went 20%-0% in under 4 miles. Life with an old compliance car. Not for the faint of heart.

The answer has always been the human is at fault. You assume all the risk of the system, even base cruise control. That's a tad unfair for Nissan's SUV EVs. The older car models, fair warning for the air cooled battery that cooks itself. They learned a lot and it showed in Ariya and Leaf gen 3 (rebadged Ariya). Fully support avoiding Tesla. Hyundai/Kia ranked tops for battery wear in a recent EU lab test.

This is actually a very keen observation! The Element is a very cultic car, too. The owner of my artist's tattoo shop has two or three of them, and one other artist drives one too. There's an annual meeting of them at the Tail of the Dragon (a road woth 318 curves in 11mi) in Robbinsville, NC.

In RARE cases (Vicious) its the opposite. The dvd media is darker & poorly encoded (the fuzzy blurs on the overly popular pinstriped clothing) where these get corrected in the remaster for streaming. But 9/10 times you are correct.

I hear you. I know many folks who manage on a 120v (Level 1) outlet & supplement with 240v (Level 2) at work or rapid charge (DC charging) weekly to meet their needs. One friend in particular has put over 100k on a 3 (4? Now?) Year old Mustang Mach-E w/ 40mi/1way commute doing DC + L1 at home.

I towed my new daily driver EV from TX to NC with a 110k-mile, 7yr old, 204 miles of rated unloaded range when new Audi EV over 4th of July 2026. Rapid Charging hasn't been an issue for 5 years. All but two stops <22m long.

Not really. Modern vehicles won't charge on less than 3kW if cold out, battery management will consume the full 1.8kW load. 16A 240V is truly necessary in most climates and use cases (R6-20 plug common for air compressors and industrial kitchen equipment).

Only one of my EVs was bought locally (within 25mi of home). Nearly all were shipped in or bought and driven home from several states away (upwards of 600-miles to drive it home). Shipping may not be affordable today, I realize.

I wish every device had a dedicated subsystem for it so we didn't cause the environmental damage of cloud sourcing it. But calling to stop using it is like saying give up the internet because the ISP is owned by the worst people alive and is bad for the environment (and, it is).

How about you and do something other than complain. I fought for street chargers and code changes for multifamily (apartment) buildings to enable access. Our local grocery has 10/) rapid chargers because of my direct effort. Making excuses like you do is staying complicit in big oil.

Further I've spent 11 years promoting and proving this tech for folks, like you, who bemoan you can't switch. So yeah my sympathy is matched to the return on the effort I've put out -- fighting for charging infrastructure, tenants rights, and countless ride & drive events with used EVs under $15k.

I paid $1800 for the EV (2015 Fiat) I am driving today, and it charges off a house outlet. You can find a way. There's no excuses anymore. 45-mike range gen1 leafs are stupid cheap.

And yes, I'm aware diesel affects all goods shipped. In not daft, but am better prepared to weather it. I've also been stockpiling food since the first round of inflation. It's only gonna get worse for a while, I am afraid. That said, happy to give a ride or even lend a car for a weekend.

You're wrong about that. No tailpipe emissions has a proven positive impact on air quality and health. But you're right that there isn't a coordinated effort by the corporations in regards to overall waste/pollution. Volvo is probably the closest to actually walking that talk.

Just low, nothing failed. No leak found (they kept it 3 days). It would fault in eco mode, which is the low pressure mode. Was fine in standard.

So funny you say that. Spouse works for BMW and was furious that Audi shipped the replacement corner marker with one piece of thin foam wrapped around it in a thin box. BMW goes overboard with their packaging but parts don't arrive broke, unlike that audi marker light!

My Audi is an EV. I've not owned an ICE car in nearly 11 years. But I had $1200 in not covered by the scant VW carefree maintenance on the last TDI I owned before going full electric.

My 2018 has constant throttle issues. My 2021 was rather flawless over the 38k miles/3 years I rode it. I sold it to a rental company. I haven't rented it in almost 2 years. Really need to go back to the Dragon and take it for a spin.

ICE cooling systems see drastically higher temps in their fluids and ambient. That has a marked effect. I have several 12-15 year old EVs, none have had cooling system repairs. The Audi (120k miles almost 8yrs old) will likely be the first one to have issues here & I know how over built they did it.

I also owned an Energica made in Modena, I miss that bike so much. It didn't have German but I believe Spanish electrical components when not Italian. The motor was in house made, CRP was their parent company.

I have a 500e, with a full Bosch drivetrain. Weird thing but only small city car i could get after my EV converted miata was run over by a jacked up truck & my smart EV was t-boned by a Toyota. That smart was the single best car I'd ever owned. 9 years and the most expensive upkeep was the top.

Most aren't running thermal management less plugged into mains power. Extreme conditions, I have no experience with extreme cold (live in US south, it only gets warmer every winter). But very very few EVs I've seen kick their battery AC on while simply parked here. None of my 5 do.

My good man 11 years sgo my VW TDI's oil change was a $80 affair DIY without fuel filter (add another $60 every other oil change). Dealer pricing news $350 as I recall. $1k is normal for an Audi's service...or BMW...or Mercedes...
