Chris Dunn @echris.online · 29/09/2026Morbius, Madame Web, Kraven all didn’t work… surely THIS is what the people want 010
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 28/09/2026Wow, how many shows are there currently in production about people hunkered underground after some kind of apocalyptic event? I count at least three which feels like a lot for a very specific log line 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 27/09/2026This is the first one that came to mind for me! I recommend it 020
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 26/09/2026iPhone’s “offload apps” to save space feature is great — until it offloads things like Lyft or AAA that I may be in a dead zone when I need them. These are the robots coming for our jobs? Come on 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 26/09/2026It’s exciting to be playing a new Remedy game. I played Alan Wake 2 a year after it came out and LOVED it, and also played Alan Wake 1, American Nightmare, and Control (plus Alan Wake 2 AGAIN) because I loved it so much. It’s cool to be on the ground floor at release. 010
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 26/09/2026Played a bit of Control Resonant - up through the first boss and opening credits. I’m into it so far! 120
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 25/09/2026I’ve played AM2R 3 or 4 times before but never to 100% completion, so as I’m exploring around I just found a hidden area I’ve never been to before that has a bunch of lore. Rad. 020

Chris Dunn @echris.online · 23/09/2026I replayed Samus Returns and finally appreciated that game for what it is, but AM2R is the real deal 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 21/09/2026I am once again trying to play through the original Metroid. A game I’ve been playing for over 30 years and have never finished, despite it blossoming into one of my favorite series. We’ll see how it goes… 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 20/09/2026It’s a bummer that so far reactions to Control Resonant are mixed, but I’ll be checking it out day one to support Remedy at the very least. 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 20/09/2026(But also don’t burn out on the series when there’s a pretty good-looking new one coming out soon!) 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 20/09/2026Aria of Sorrow is maybe the best of the series. Dawn of Sorrow on DS (in the Dominus Collection) is a direct sequel with the same characters (most take place centuries apart from one another) so if you enjoy it I’d go there next 110
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 20/09/2026Is there anything in particular about it? It’s definitely got a different feel from the GBA games despite all being sprites — I actually prefer the physics and control style of those games, but something about Super Metroid just does it for me 100
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 19/09/2026Play the video games you WANT to play, you don’t need to finish Bubsy just because you started it! 210
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 19/09/2026I know there’s nuance to everything and liking one thing doesn’t mean I have to like another. But it feels weird to be somebody who loves this aspect of the fan community and yet is turned off by another aspect that’s not all that different. 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 19/09/2026That said, I’m also very turned off by the “fixed” images some folks have made where they’ve photoshopped Link from the Ocarina remake. Like, if video games are art, that feels like repainting the smile of the Mona Lisa. Link’s design is not ours to change! 110
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 19/09/2026Been thinking a lot about fan mods, ROM hacks, PC decomps, etc lately and it’s kind of an interesting thing. To me, the Samus Returns 60 fps mod makes the original game even better, and I’ve enjoyed a bunch of PC port/remakes like Hoverbat’s Zelda II, Majora’s Mask Recomp, randomizers, etc. 101
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 19/09/2026Started replaying Super Metroid (because Metroid Ravenous has me back on my bullshit again) and every time I revisit it, I am reminded how spectacular it is. The physics are a little floaty but otherwise I have almost no complaints. (And I know there are fan mods to change the physics, but… nah.) 230
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 16/09/2026If you can get past the fact that it’s 30 FPS (or emulate with a 60 FPS mod), Samus Returns really is a proto-Dread. I’m having a fantastic time with it This is the turnaround I always hope to have when I replay Spirit Tracks (but never actually do) 010
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 15/09/2026Metal Gear Solid because I think my mom thought the ESRB’s description of “mature sexual themes” meant it was porn or something 110
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 15/09/2026With $10 off the standard edition, I don’t think I can justify the special edition for double the cost 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 14/09/2026Lastly, it is a shame that so many titles are trapped on 3DS, including really excellent ones and entries in Nintendo’s top franchises. Metroid Samus Returns, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D Land, etc etc. 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 14/09/2026Related — in 2026, almost a decade removed from the launch of the Switch and the beginning of the end for the 3DS, having functions assigned exclusively to touch controls feels incredibly archaic. Just lemme hit a button to switch beams 100
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 14/09/2026Okay, I have turned around on Samus Returns. I played through it once at launch, tried to revisit it a few times and it never took. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that I’m emulating at 60 FPS or just that I’m actually giving it more time, but I am truly enjoying it probably for the first time ever. 100
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 12/09/2026It’s WILD how much I love Dread when I was so disappointed by Samus Returns. I’ve played Dread like seven times, but Samus Returns only once despite returning to it several times. 000
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 12/09/2026It’s still a bit clunky and definitely not as fast-paced as Dread. I’m also playing it on a single screen with the bottom screen transparent in the corner so… not exactly as intended. But I’m still going, which is more than I can say for the last time I tried to replay it 200
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 12/09/2026As I am wont to do, I started replaying the Metroid series because a new one was announced. Usually I play AM2R because I wasn’t a fan of the 3DS remake of Metroid II but I’m giving it another shot on the Retroid Pocket Nova in higher res with a 60 FPS patch and… it’s growing on me 120
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 11/09/2026(Actually Super was 1994 and Fusion was the end of 2002 so that gap is probably more like 8-9 years) 010
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 11/09/2026There were 7 years between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion and 19(!) years between Fusion and Dread. I am ECSTATIC this game has only taken 5 years 😅 110
Chris Dunn @echris.online · 10/09/2026lol the physics and way you can manipulate each limb does lead to some funny visuals 000

Chris Dunn @echris.online · 09/09/2026I love Metroid but not sure I can stomach a $40-50 premium for basically just an amiibo 100
