My cat likes my new sleeping pad for bikepacking. I have a Durston tent and poles on order to replace the Amazon tent I’ve been using. I justify these purchases by telling myself that if I ever have to bug out, I will be comfortable.

I bought some vintage dishware to make slip casts of their bodies, make approximations of how much clay to use while hand building, and also have an idea of how large the copied forms should be. Breaking out the high school geometry notes to measure radius, height, and angle 📐 #pottery #handbuilding

Took a day off work to have a personal office day: got a haircut, put in an application to get my car title, cleaned my cat’s litter box, and gave my cat a much needed bath, cleaned bathroom, did laundry, made plaster molds out of some thrift store dishes for pottery hand building….

I thought about changing the setting to Ukraine—but that seemed opportunistic. And it was Russia I was interested in. I had been to Russia in 2016 with a friend, staying with her family, seeing museums, churches, local sights. We had become friends because I loved Russian fairytales.

I got my light switch plates out the kiln! They look fantastic— but the holes are ever so slightly off, meaning I can’t use them on my light switches. Plus, one has a crack. 😭 I got the bisqueware from Clay King and used Mayco blue speckled glaze. #pottery

Went to the local army supply store for MRE’s for story research and bikepacking. Military museums and supply stores have a particular odor to them— old plastic? Canvas? Rubber? Machine lubricant? Rust? It reminds me of my dad, who used to take us to military museums.
