@rickedwards1.bsky.social Yep, that goal shows how dumb the (passive blah, blah) offside rule is - that Argentine fool is bang in the middle of the goal, GK can't possibly ignore him. No goal; end of.

@rickedwards1.bsky.social No, you're smarter than that - Egypt shouldn't have been 3-0 up - your news guy said the same thing. Their 2nd goal was after the disallowed one - after which the gameplay changes - so the 3rd would not automatically have come about. Should have been VAR for the pen though

@rickedwards1.bsky.social I bet Harry Kane would tell you he doesn't care about the Golden Boot -- he wants, needs one thing: the trophy. Scoring a hatful of goals is a bonus -- and obvs helps win games. The others scoring makes for a much better team -- so here's to a hat trick for Rice tonight!

@rickedwards1.bsky.social Did I hear you say you hate the change of group tiebreakers, away from goal difference? I.e. Teams winning the groups after just 2 gams being nonsense; because it is nonsense. I'd saythe heart of any problem is 3 pts for a win - a terrible system for 'short leagues'

@rickedwards1.bsky.social Worst thing England do is all that tippy-tappy shit near the 6 yard box - asking for trouble; and gave away an early corner. But then they've always done too much pass back to the central defenders crap

Ebola is spreading in DRC and Uganda. WHO has declared a global health emergency. This is a serious outbreak, but with global solidarity and local action, the world can stop it. Speed is everything, as these stories show. etdh.resolvetosavelives.org/2026/

#Ebola: New outbreak in NE DRC, in Ituri province, where the large 2018-2020 outbreak took place. Security issues there make responses challenging. DRC has announced this one is caused by the Bundibugyo species of Ebola. Only 2 previous Bundibugyo outbreaks (2007, 2012). No licensed vaccine for it.

@rickedwards1.bsky.social That Celtic penalty is fascinating. But certainly not "clear & obvious" I reckon VAR should only have access to long range camera shots -- not 100 closeups. If you can be sure from crappy, distant footage then VAR can make a call, otherwise not
