Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

Yes, this includes possibly standing up/speaking to people who you consider friends. People who are "nice to you" or who helped you. People can be nice to one person, and then go around and treat another person inhumanely. All those 57 men are complicit: the rest stood by and did/said nothing.

It happens so often it can be hard to even see. Men having the same experience I am, but I hit a place where the attention becomes unpleasant. Inuendos start. I have to wiggle out of something I did not start (cautiously! trying not to upset any dangerous egos!) so I leave, while the men get to stay

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

I haven't lost a parent, but I've lost all of my grandparents. When I want to feel close to them, I make either their favorite food or food that was meaningful to the both of us. At least for me, it makes me feel closer to them in some ways (even though I know it's a small amount in comparison)

Just know it's not you or a reflection of anyone else's capabilities, it's the state of the economy, tech in general, + games. It's the worst I've ever seen, not even close. Much worse even than 2008-2009. Even veterans in the industry are struggling finding + getting a job with all the layoffs.🫂

my belief is that at the end of the day, great games are made by groups of people who have high trust with each other & can fluidly execute a shared vision. which is a small part of why these layoffs are so devastating- it's not just about jobs, it's about these "trust structures" being torn apart.

As a gamer/nerd myself, I was also SUPER impressed with all the amazing women dressed up as BG3 characters at PAX. There were also 2 or 3 AMAZING folks dressed up as Helldivers 2 shock troopers/soldiers.

My favorite moment was meeting these folks who were dressed up as Elizabeth + Booker from #BioshockInfinite! It's really energizing as a dev to see folks dress up as characters from a game you've worked on, especially since it's been 13? years since we shipped the game 👀🥰

I'm glad I went to #PAXWest w/my partner on Sat. It reconnected me to the nerd/gamer/fandom and game dev community again in person, and it was heartwarming to see all the indie games there and how POPULAR they were. I've missed meeting up in person and getting to see the PASSION of fandom 😊

I was VERY happy to see that! (Though I was only there for a day on Saturday and didn't see everything). The artist-alley specific booths looked all artist-created too (easy to tell) and I saw some anti-AI stickers there 🙂. I now follow a bunch of cool artists and indie devs now! #PAXWest

Ugh, I HATE it when networking turns into this kind of vibe + (esp white men) get elitist/judge people based on their perceived "value" (esp women, BIPOC, neurodivergent folks) without even having a conversation with the person. I used to leave conversations at GDC parties with people who did this.

Pedialyte electrolyte popsicles are a GODSEND for myself/folks with Dysautonomia + severe heat intolerance to get through this summer... ☀️🥵🧊 (Note: the average person doesn't need this amount of electrolytes daily, but those of us with Dysautonomia/POTS DO AND it helps me cool off when overheating)

He's dirty+ smells like flowers, so he now gets gabapentin + a bath, but he looks uninjured, just really thirsty/tired. I'm guessing he was hiding in a neighbor's flowering bush (even though we looked), I'm just mad he never came out when we were yelling his name for hours yesterday. 😮‍💨
