Russia said exactly the same about Ukraine in 2014 - just before sending infantry, tank, airborne and air defence units into Ukraine's Donbas in August 2014. Russia said the same thing again about Ukraine in January 2022 - just before attempting the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

I think the one counter argument to this might be that only the U.S. had a candidate like Trump, with his previous term & record & profile & unique danger, w Jan 6! Which together in a sane universe should have balanced the pandemic/inflation/incumbent narrative. But yes to the larger point.

This is a pretty amazing article. It gets a little preachy at times. But the goods in the article don’t need it. A whole operation based on buying up long running websites, firing all staff and pumping them full of mountains of AI slop. Fascinating. A sort of boiler room ai dystopia.

Entirely logical. We know the ICE agent who committed murder in Maine had history of mental illness, orders of protection, violence. The vetting process hardly excludes abusers. Not a new problem, we've seen it in PDs, but w ICE my guess is many candidates are the bottom of the barrel.
