Trump won last fall because the least educated among us voted for him. Nothing else shifted from the 2020 election, except more people obtained a college degree/advanced degree. (Does this explain his Higher Ed hatred - knows he will lose in 26/28 now if low-info voters awake?) From the AP:

AP 2024 election analysis between Harris and Trump by location (urban, suburban, rural) and education (high school or less, some college, college, and graduate degree). From 2020 election, the only shifts are that high school or less and some college voters shifted to Trump in 2024 and more Harris voters had advanced degrees than did 2020 Biden voters (more schooling during COVID?). Voting by location was basically unchanged from 2020 to 2024 with Trump getting a majority of rural voters and a minority of urban voters.

I was actually overly conservative, or just confused. The Urban population in the US only occupies 3% of the landmass, the Rural population occupies the other 97% of the US landmass. This is the crazy part; Urban includes urban, suburban (& most of the exurban) AND small towns over 2500 population.

US Census bureau current designation of urban areas as occupying 3% of the US land area. Rural areas, with 19.3% of the population, occupy the other 97% of the landmass.

Specific definition of US Census density formula to aggregate Urban density; 1,000 people per square to e mile (or about 1 person per 2/3rds of an acre). Also includes other areas such as local parks, schools, industrial areas, commercial areas, shopping centers and commercial airports.

Recent development of the Urban / Rural mix in the 1990 and 2000 Censuses. Urban includes areas with greater than 50,000 people and Urbanized Clusters of 2,500 people (ie, small towns).
