Was not hot on Evil Dead Burn. Green Lantern show gave me blue balls.

Anyone recognize this kind of mold growing on a tree? Looks like I’ll probably be chopping down another fucking tree, goddammit anyway.

Listened to THE FROLIC by Ligotti again yesterday, and finally realized what that story reminded me of: a very similar story embedded in Morrison/McKean’s ARKHAM ASYLUM graphic novel.

Tentative stack of horror comics to read for October. Likely much more Richard Corben and Kelley Jones stuff will get tagged in before Halloween.

“People think it’s an obsession. A compulsion. As if there were an irresistible impulse to act. It’s never been like that. I chose this life. I know what I’m doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn’t that day. And tomorrow won’t be either.” -Batman, Identity Crisis.

My friend borrowed FLESH AND BLOOD by Graham Masterton and just started reading it. I’m so stoked. He just told me he’s gotten to Officer Norman Gorman.

Fired up DARK GODS again last night, starting with PETEY, which I didn’t care for last time, but holy shit, immediately rocks this time around, now that I’m more familiar with Klein’s tricks. He’s great at making the monster a hole in the story, and describing what’s around the hole to define it.

Just saw that Valancourt Books is discontinuing their Paperbacks from Hell imprint, and that’s a major bummer.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

Happy October, fellow Autumn people!
THE OCTOBER COUNTRY …that country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay. That country composed in the main of cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries faced away from the sun. That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at night on the empty walks sound like rain…

-Ray Bradbury, The October Country

I was once on my computer, writing alone on one end of the dark basement. On the other end of the basement, a pressure activated screaming monkey plushie somehow activated by itself as it lay on the floor. The screams scared the bejeezus out of me. I promptly left the basement.

This brings to mind a guy I worked with who I realized was a methhead after he watched Breaking Bad and was shocked that Walter never tried meth. I tell him, “No man, Walter White wasn’t a fucking idiot. He’s just making money off idiots.” And he just stared at me, because I called him an idiot.

Youngest and I saw a beautiful, super chill fawn on our walk yesterday. You could tell she was used to the walkers in this park, didn’t give a damn after noticing us and others, just kept grazing. At an intersection, I once saw three deer bolt into this park, one of them a 8 point buck. Neato.

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.

“Smokery Farms will only serve meat from animals that are individually stupid and bad.” I think about this bit from Weekend Update all the time. Not because the actors are trying not to puke, but because the idea of a farm only butchering asshole animals is comedy gold.

Also read FANTASTIC FOUR: FULL CIRCLE by Alex Ross last night, and, holy shit, I’m extremely down for more of Ross’ new style that he uses here. Absolutely insane colors. If he did a send up to 70’s Cosmic Marvel with Mar-Vell, Silver Surfer, Warlock and Thanos… oh mama, please.

Gave DAREDEVIL: A COLD DAY IN HELL another shot last night, and nah, I was right the first time. Not great. Really dig McNiven’s Frank Miller homage art, interesting to see that marriage of styles. Very apparent with Elektra. The story, like much of Soule’s DD run, is serviceable but messy.
