@andrew-wiebe.bsky.social why no VAR review of Fory's second yellow/red in the 50th minute of Portland at Club America? Looked like Fory got the ball...

Roman scent bottles made of gold-band mosaic glass. Beautiful examples of the skill of ancient glassmakers some 2,000 years ago! The Met 📷 by me #Archaeology
My photo shows two Roman gold-band mosaic glass bottles on display at the Met Museum. Made of translucent cobalt blue, turquoise green, opaque white, and colorless glass encasing gold leaf. Both bottles have globular bodies and cyclindrical necks with horizontal everted rims. The larger bottle on the left measures 10.5cm in height and has a slightly concave bottom. The smaller bottle on the right measures 4.8cm in height and has a flat bottom.

According to the museum label: “Gold-band cast glass was a particularly opulent type of early Roman glassware. It combines canes of brightly colored translucent and opaque glass with strips of gold leaf encased between layers of colorless glass. Only a limited number of vessel shapes were made in this way, and some of the most common are small globular or carinated bottles such as these. They were presumably used to store expensive cosmetics and perfumes”.

Musk turning on Trump is not a reason to A) Get an account on X. B) Forgive him for all the disgusting things things he’s done. Your enemy’s enemy is not always your friend. Definitely not in this case.

I had the honor of serving as a local History Day judge nearly 30 years ago. The students were excited to talk about what they learned, and I was very happy to see so many young people interested in history. This news makes me sad.

During the early winter there were orange critters that look like baby carrots, but are related to sea cucumbers-I forget their name. I have found sand dollars, both broken & whole. I love simply being on the beach & seeing the ocean.

A By-the-Wind-Sailor from my walk on the beach today. Poor guy is stranded and probably already dead after washing ashore, but I love how blue he is. #bluejelly #beachfind
A blue jelly like circular critter with a clear "sail" all about the size of a silver dollar sits on brown sand with the blue Pacific Ocean and the blue sky behind it

My tulips are blossoming! The seagull on the fake pilings lets you know we are at the Oregon Coast. #tulips #springtime #seagull
Five tulips in various stages of still-green to yellow. They are in front of three pretend pilings on which a seagull sits, a seashell rests, and a snack green glass float is suspended.

Nestled in dry grass and a budding dandelion is a rock painted to look like a ladybug. It is red with black spots and has white eyes that look like googly eyes but are just painted really well!
