Part of the origin of the f-- slur is it was the word used for a younger student who was subordinate to a prefect or senior student in a role of authority, going back at least to around the year 1800. Just to say, these cultures of abuse really are deeply-rooted in men-only communities.

This story is so similar to the Rolling Stone UVA story, which was immediately shared between everyone I knew. That specific story was inaccurate, but it was completely believable to us. A girl I'd met at age 8 posted about her assault in her first months at UVA bc of that story being published.

A few years ago an older coworker was talking about an Ari Melber segment on therapy & puberty blockers for trans kids. The thing that got to her was the high rate of suicidal thoughts in kids who *don't* get treatments. She doesn't believe transness is real, but she agreed that kids deserve care.

The author of this article says the forebrain makes us human, but then they say lab mice have one, too. So I think they're overstating the conclusions a bit. It seems like new studies are looking into how the mammal brain develops, but it doesn't really change what we know about brain function?

I watched a weird very low budget documentary 10-12 years ago about Google just showing up at libraries and asking to scan books, but with no plan to pay authors, then at the end they jumped to "HG Wells warned of a one world hive mind and Google's doing that now" which seemed extreme at the time.
