When art stopped being a competition my creative output was amplified greatly

How do you figure out if a person is just making a statement to hop on the bandwagon?

I think it’s weird when musicians like Todd Rundgren and Jack White blame video games for the decline of rock music.

At times I feel I’m taking up too much space online. Trying to get better about that.

When I stopped seeking external validation both online and irl my life improved dramatically. It’s tough to trust your gut but we all can’t live someone else’s idealized life.

As a projectionist I often don’t fully watch the films I’m screening but this one was really well done. Highly recommend!

Publicists are underrated in how we perceive the world. The term “nepo baby” was just short hand to address the nepotism in various industries. Publicists have already already figured out how to weave it into young celebrities backstories and make it sound like a burden they overcame.

These apps are designed to pull us apart and sell us products to fill that void. I don’t have an answer but something needs to change.

I’m watching Batman & Robin(1997) which serves as a reminder to not crowd source your opinions. Any movie critic will tell you it’s a terrible film, anybody who loves film will tell you it’s actually peak

Igor Stravinsky, Otto Dix, Billie Holiday, Norman Rockwell, John Steinbeck, and Solomon Linda are all examples of artists who created some of their best works during WW1 and WW2. Now is our time to create, don’t let the bastards win

Where is the love for people like @florgoth.bsky.social who build community amongst musicians? While it’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy and moral panic of modern scrolling, take a moment to highlight individuals that make the scene better.

A society in which everyone is expected to constantly declare positions can become strangely coercive even if the coercion is social rather than governmental

I’m not thrilled with the buzzwords on my magic box this week. Maybe next week will bring something more interesting.

When I worked in radio, I learned that when you’re #1, you don’t respond to the competition. A rival once put up a billboard with “K123” in huge letters, followed by “We play more music than them.” All they did was advertise K123. Sometimes the best response is no response.

Not thrilled with the older half of the millennials posting like boomers. “When I was a teenager I went to the mall and rode a bike” Like ok??? I’m 32 so I feel like a bridge between Gen Z and the elder millennials

“millennial optimism” and “hope core” are trending for the youth. I have a few thoughts. Socially, economically, and globally the situation wasn’t better then, but in the U.S. we had Obama. His message was hope. He never promised immediate change but led us to believe change was possible.

Since I’m vegan I eat a lot of tofu. I don’t buy into the propaganda of prepping it for long amounts of time. I just cook it a bit longer. I’m not pressing it to extract every trace of water.
