Back on Bluesky after a few month social media hiatus. Just noticed that we cracked @kinarnicholas.bsky.social 's #hydrology paper of the day list (a few months ago)! This is a neat paper led by @dalhydro.bsky.social that shows the important control that #groundwater has on river #temperatures.

It certainly (and thankfully) won't be the wettest year on record in Darwin. We may be on track for one of the top 5 at this rate... With devastating floods across many northern Aus regions, thankfully, this wet season is almost at a close... #hydrology 🧪

To be honest, the typesetting process has always been a joke. Most errors for authors to fix are introduced by the journal at this stage. Also, yay, making a bad system worse? Great.

This should generate a lot of interest from researchers and research users. On one hand, it is a highly profitable company automating parts of the process. On the other, more papers are being submitted ( #AI a factor), and reviews take ages. #academicsky Thoughts?

Universities tend to find the least efficient way to do most things. This sounds a lot like the "we can't accept this, it's the old form" kind of thing that I see (note: the old form includes all the information that the new form has).

AI hasn't led to massive increases in efficiency? Perhaps it's because of the soul crushing admin that takes up 120% of working hours... I do use AI, & I do think there's efficiency gains. I'd give it all back for a 50% reduction in pointless admin tasks. #AcademicSky fortune.com/2026/02/17/a...
