One “crappy” thing about RSS that I actually like is when someone screws up their feed and their last _n_ posts get republished. It’s a nice smoke signal that they’re working on their site, and someti...

Funny you used us as an example. The docs site handles this but main site doesn’t. We have light and dark versions of several icon variants (representing state for things like PRs) so not an effortless change, but something I’ve added to our UI quality backlog.
Search results for GitHub docs that show the Docs site favicon with a white background baked in, and a main GitHub page result with a transparent black logo on a dark grey background.

For example, I just picked one issue at random and the comment says Firefox doesn’t support the `beforeinput`, but it shipped in 2021 in v87.

lol deal. Hoping a lot of these are already unnecessary though, and just never got removed when browsers progressed.

Could we just pass a valueless `headingoffset` attribute to the <body> and use <h1> throughout for opt-in magic?

This means even inputs that are visually similar can have different behaviour, which is potentially confusing and really grates on me. But we err toward consistency with user expectations vs. internal consistency on this one.

I keep dealing with this on github.com. For multi-line inputs, Cmd+Enter is safest (to avoid mistakes, but especially for features like agent sessions where that send action costs money). For something like chat, users expect the Enter convention.

It happens everywhere. One of my favourite things is shipping changes to the docs and then linking coworkers to the docs I wrote to back up my own opinion in discussion. “Primer says this.”

They never really took hold in our UI for the accessibility reasons, so not a lot to backtrack on. They’re still in use in the one product area where they were first introduced but nowhere else, as far as I’m aware.
