Angine de Poitrine took over my Instagram reel, and has since played in my head on a loop, compelling me to write essentially an undergrad-music-student-term-paper unpacking their "math rock" style of music. blog.dyanacek.com/2026/08/08/t...

Agentic AI is the futuristic alien technology that I've been wishing we had over the last 20 years of building AWS. Now that it's here, there's some super cool stuff to build. www.cio.com/article/4187...

What 20 years of AWS taught me about agentic AI
AI agents are great at coding, but they tend to wander off-track unless you use explicit specs, solid design documents and strict testing to guide them.

DuneOps Part 2: Crossing bloodlines. AI changes the math on the strengths and weaknesses of each operational model, from #DevOps, #SRE, #PlatformEngineering, by making it easier to borrow the strengths of each. blog.dyanacek.com/2026/05/16/d...

This Star Trek podcast is the funniest and most entertaining podcast I know. If you like Star Trek and frequent “juvenile” humor, check it out. They’re just starting their SECOND walk of EVERY episode in the ENTIRE franchise. I’ve been listening to this podcast for 10 years now.

📚📚📚 New blog and post: "Dune as an operational model", aka #DuneOps. 📚📚📚 The best fighters in the Dune universe are born from the harshest environments. That philosophy has fun parallels to #DevOps, #SRE, #PlatformEngineering, and Frontline #Ops. blog.dyanacek.com/2026/05/10/d...

“Server ops is annoying,” said Yanacek, a trim man of 42 with a gray beard and jittery intensity. That is an accurate reflection of me that I had not considered before. The story talks about how #AWSDevOpsAgent is making ops less annoying! www.nytimes.com/2026/03/12/m...

In developer tooling, if a "rough edge" makes a tool hard to use, but a "sharp edge" makes a tool easy to accidentally misuse, then what kind of edge should a tool have?

It was super fun chatting with @kball.llc about spec-driven development and the future of coding. Since recording, Kiro announced new types of spec flows. Last week I used Kiro's new Bugfix Spec flow to one-shot a bugfix to production! Very thorough tests, clear implementation.
