wow, filling out one's linkedin is truly a humiliation ritual. like all im doing here is performing and advertising my mediocre projects that i dont think says much about my actual abilities. it is not lost on me that it is my fault for not pushing harder to have a better portfolio of stuff to show

ok i read about it, and while im still not very interested in the document editing part (because typesetting and layouting scares me a lot), the idea of a universal document feels doable and im very interested in it

still whey @dw.whey.party · 30/09/2026
idk about the actual document editing part, but i am definitely interested in doing something related to the chrome of the app

it IS a music thing but mostly manual layouting (or, as some people might prefer calling it, ""engraving"")

revisited this transcription with some minor edits (not a full 2nd pass at it) as i was trying out musescore 4.7's low pass filter for ms basic. maybe its time for me to rewatch severance
000
still whey @dw.whey.party · 15/09/2026
so apparently musescore 4.7 got a dedicated mp4 export button and also uses a low pass filter but unfortunately also makes held notes fall off really fast so idk

Has anyone tried having two pdses, one always copying latest repo state of the main one, and then when the main one is down an automated did change points over to the backup pds and posting continues as normal

its been a while. did some nether mining with a create contraption. started to feel the pain of MI. got wireless AE2 running, but keeping the create post production system in parallel. moved the quarry over to the side. and somehow despite everything im still constantly out of iron #enigmatica10
nether mining at y=15 getting a fair amount of ancient debris but absolutely no quartz because of the basalt deltas biome. mining is done using a create minecart contraption with a 8x3 drill setup and a lot of chestsModern Industrialization basic bronze steam age machinery setup on a dull stone shield biome with some tall trees in the backgrounda giant carved out hole underground. extremely tall but not very wide. a quarry frame surrounds the top of the hole, and it is lit with a lot of torches on the walls of the pitscreenshot of my AE2 wireless crafting terminal, showing a lot of items in the storage system, and JEI fills the left and right side of the screen.

also visually hard to look at. it lacks the hard border raycast has which when combined with the complete lack of window shadow makes the popup window blend into whatever window is behind it. as a workaround i set the background opacity to 0.1 and for some reason now the border is now visible
000
still whey @dw.whey.party · 04/09/2026
but like not all raycast extensions works. the usual ocr extension i had installed uses Apple's VisionKit ML API and that just fails to read anything from the screen. i installed a slightly different one, but still fully local, using Tesseract OCR and it works fine. it lacks a status toast but eh
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 04/09/2026
but i think ill be fine. all i need from it is just a fancy calculator, an app launcher, ocr, and color picker (which thankfully for the last two, vicinae supports installing raycast extensions)
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 04/09/2026
raycast 2.0 released and auto-updated itself on my unsupported OS version and thus is stuck crashing on app start. so anyways i just installed vicinae.com and my first impression is dang qtquick scrolling feels bad

i dont have the highest hopes in this modpack so ive been mostly just messing with early game create aeronautics contraptions and maybe next ill go try making something with create power grid
The same boas as above

been playing this one random minecraft modpack i found
my player crouching looking at the camera, standing on a small wooden boat with a steering wheel and create cog contraption at the back powering the boat. The boat is in a body of water, some distance away from the jungle mountains visible in the background.

i absolutely do not have the time to explore the new space alpha thingy but if it solves the personal-private data angle then i should probably like use it to store persistent red dwarf client cached data or something like that

I forgot what made the hype/momentum for polystrike suddenly die a few years ago, i think it was some sort of community drama, but now its being pushed again out of nowhere and like i guess no one remembered what happened
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 17/08/2026
I guess it was a bad time to roll out the appview-first mode in red dwarf
030
still whey @dw.whey.party · 17/08/2026
in my defense i was away from my laptop for the last few days because of an unforeseen event
010
still whey @dw.whey.party · 17/08/2026
I swear i always rhought red dwarf uses slingshot to resolve handles, or your own PDS sometimes. I remember the login / auth system using bsky hardcoded resolve handle at one point but i feel like ive since fixed that a long time ago

still whey @dw.whey.party · 11/08/2026
oof i really have to fix the non-appview path for post loading in red dwarf, i mean it works but with the appview-first mode enabled the result isnt cached so it just wastes your time by giving you a fresh loading delay on all route changes

you know what this might be a blessing in disguise. it might be time to shut off this VPS for good and ill move every file over to the new VPS

sigh my entire VPS got rebooted and rinds died

im a fraud the gallery only shows up for posts fetched through an appview and i forgot to implement the path for the microcosm backed ones
000
still whey @dw.whey.party · 01/08/2026
apparently im way behind the first anniversary of red dwarf but i still got 29 more days until 30th of august for the anniversary of the first public open source release of red dwarf i guess

Oh and im using the wrong check mark for verified users. Bsky.app (the verified issuer) doesnt show a check mark at all, yet normal verified users incorrectly use the issuer check mark (instead of the round one)

Definitely should try to find a way to add bookmarks though
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 01/08/2026
In general the app contents jumps around when navigating between pages a lot more than id like. And im feeling like im fighting the tanstack router system a lot more than i should
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 01/08/2026
Also navigating back into the home page is slow once again because i had to remove the keep alive library (it was not updated to support latest router) which is a minor thing, but also AV-first mode's cache has a timeout which breaks scroll restoration sometimes
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 01/08/2026
Ive been using rd last night and i feel what i was missing was bookmarks, scroll restoration in home and thread pages flashes for a frame (but only sometimes), and my phone got warm (and battery usage noticably got worse).
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 31/07/2026
the last big UX hit and or bug of av-first mode is just making the system remember failed fetches to the av server and dont try again. currently it like tries to call av, fails, fetches directly, but because i threw an error once i look at the app the wrong way it retries fetching from the av again
000
still whey @dw.whey.party · 31/07/2026
my head hurts but at least i fixed reply thread fetching for appivew-first mode which is now on by default. also logging in no longer leave you in a dead route (regression from updating tanstack router)
100
still whey @dw.whey.party · 31/07/2026
oh i forgot about the fact that im now shipping appview-first enabled by default i hope itll be fine
000
still whey @dw.whey.party · 31/07/2026
eh whatever i deployed it now just so gallery is usable for everyone without waiting for an arbitrary goalpost reddwarf.app/about
110
still whey @dw.whey.party · 31/07/2026
did the carousel / gallery view today, though i still havent implemented click to drag. and also because theres no scrollbar, desktop users must use a touchpad or theyre out of luck. havent found a good library for it yet, and im not feeling like writing a bespoke one today

still whey @dw.whey.party · 30/07/2026
i shouldnt make promises but i think its a safe personal goal to polish up the appview-first post fetching mode (safe enough to be enabled by default) and add the gallery as a requirement for deploying it
000
still whey @dw.whey.party · 30/07/2026
also updated the very outdated screenshot in the readme. i think i tried updating it once but gave up because tangled didnt want to render any image from that repo. but eventually it fixed itself at some point. first is the old screenshot, and the second one is the new one i just took today
screenshot of an old version of red dwarfscreenshot of the latest main branch version of red dwarf

i think i did good for red dwarf today. i updated dependencies, split labelers, removed a troublesome library, and fixed scroll jumping on post thread. generally just getting the codebase ready for a new deployment again, but not quite there yet cuz i keep getting distracted from adding the gallery

still whey @dw.whey.party · 30/07/2026
shouldve listened to myself. removing moderation (or rather, gating the entire labeler system behind a compile-time flag) massively helps. it unblocks me from doing other stuff i want to do, and is a morale boost not seeing the app stuck loading labels for 2 minutes
