I said basically the same to some co-workers today. Great show, but you could have gotten there with two FBI agents and the villain from Roadhouse just as easily.

My opiniom of the #Lanterns finale and the show in general are complicated. Overall it's a net positive though and I would happily watch a second season, if they make it.

Old millennial here. If an employer is micro-managing your choices like this during the interview phase, imagine what they'll be like once you're on the payroll.

My brother let me flip through his comics and I picked Moon Knight #22 and Spectacular #116 out to read. The next week I went and bought Uncanny X-Men #283, Daredevil #300, and Amazing Spider-Man #355 from the grocery store.

I'd give up Generations, Insurrection, and Nemesis for three more season of TNG. But you'll have to pry First Contact from my cold dead hands.

My gut feeling was always "they want a real-deal Alan Moore classic in their back catalog"...both the character history and it's significance in comic history. I know he wrote some Marvel UK stuff, but I rarely see thinkpieces written about it the way they do Watchmen/Swamp Thing/Miracleman.

Dusten Watts @dustenwatts.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

That's certainly a good point. I hadn't quite thought of it from the cold, hard business perspective; but grabbing every piece of popular IP with 'marvel' in it makes a ton of sense.

I'm not a purist by any means when it comes to re-engineering characters, but I feel like that would defeat the purpose of purchasing his rights in the first place. They bought him for the history. You take any of that away and you probably lose more fans than you gain. Probably, not 100%.

I have an idea where I could make him work for a big crossover or maybe like a year long arc, but long term? Yeah, he just doesn't fit.

I'll be checking it out tonight. Showed two trailers to my wife and she was immediately down for it. Hoping like hell it's good!

Never buying/trying a Neil Gaiman book because he seemed like smug jerk and a feminist pick-me. I only verbalized it to close friends because he was sOoOoOoOo popular.

I don't want anyone to think I'm defending this guy, but that video is clearly AI fakery. Look for the real stuff he's done wrong.

Right?!? Head canon like that makes me feel better about how under-utilized he actually was in that one.

Dusten Watts @dustenwatts.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

Same. I could think of something more elaborate, but Mystique posing as a cop or medical professional, then questioning both sets of parents, and swiping an object that Sabretooth could get her scent from would fit the vibe of that movie best.

Dusten Watts @dustenwatts.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

I haven't seen X1 in awhile, but; 1. He was driving to the next cage match and figured he'd ditch her or vice versa, eventually. 2. I assumed Magneto was monitoring media on a massive scale for anything 'strange' (mutant activity). He'd send Mystique to infiltrate/confirm, then Sabretooth to track.

Marvel pissed me off right and left, sure...but I stayed engaged and kept buying. The others couldn't keep my attention. So #1 with an asterisk, but still #1.

If I reach back and put myself in a 2001 headspace? Marvel's missteps felt smaller in comparison to DC's inability to hold onto the spotlight after Death of Superman and Image's spectacular implosion. Marvel pushed their car across the finish line while the others were looking for spare tires.

I've scrolled and scrolled and haven't seen it yet, so sorry if this has been suggested, but the ability to add a byline would be nice (especially for TOS).

I remember walking out of the theater heartbroken because I wanted to see more, but knew the movie wasn't good enough to justify it. It was like someone had written a 10 episode series and decided to turn the first 3.5 episodes into a movie.

Dusten Watts @dustenwatts.bsky.social · 11/04/2026

And that's, unfortunately, part of why it failed. They made the first chapter of a multi-part series instead concentrating on making a solid standalone movie.

I won't be going to bat to ensure it gets made due to a certain cast member being included, but if it does in fact get made, I'll probably check it out *the free way* cough cough.

It's been 12-15 years since my last rewatch. I recall it not hitting the same way, but don't recall being offended by anything. I'm troubled by what I'm seeing many on here say about it though.

I remember a friend introduced me to Serenity about 20 years ago. The film was enjoyable. Then I went back and watched Firefly, which I also found enjoyable. My tastes and attitudes have changed a lot since then.
