Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 3hFabulous! I only saw the compilation once and kicked myself for not buying it. 110
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 3hI found a partly recorded version of that from a few years ago during my excavations last month. 140
Reposted by Rob MorganDavid Bryant @23daves.bsky.social · 13hBlog update: Nick Cave reached number one in the indie charts with "The Mercy Seat" in July 1988, a track which combined sinister poetry with a direct, frantic rush of panic and basic repetition. It remains one of his finest singles. indienumber1s.blogspot.com/2026/10/119-... 1225
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hSo yesterday I dug out the Sheraton, tuned it up, plugged it into my mini Marshall amp and then this happened. (I notice the selfie camera on my phone still makes everything look cloudy. How odd!) 6240
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hAnd I wear the new splint on my left hand every night, even if I sometimes smack myself in the face in my sleep. And those who know - doctors, family, friends - check to see how the left hand is progressing. It's definitely getting better, there's movement, the wrist is stronger. 1110
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hMy hatred for the hand splint became legendary - I was known to throw it off in temper and pain in hospital. Much like the "moon boots" for my feet which felt like someone chainsawing my ankles. Anyway Orthotics gave me a new splint during last autumn's tour of hospitals which is much better. 170
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hAnd I can remember thinking that would never change. There was a time in ICU I thought I'd never sing again either but that's drugs and tracheostomies for you. But playing guitar was always on my mind. I hated having my left hand in a splint to straighten it out, it was (and still is) very painful. 290
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hWhen I was in hospital last year, Lauren - one of my Occupational Therapists - brought me out a keyboard to get my right hand functioning. What did I play first? "All that matters" naturally. My left hand, as followers and friends know, was locked and immovable for a long time... 190
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hSo "All that matters" means a lot to me. Of course I've been married for nearly 27 years to the girlfriend I wrote it for. How sweet. She still says the Cloudies played it too fast and it was a ballad on the tape I gave her. ANYWAY ... 1150
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hI even rerecorded "All that matters" a few years ago for my acoustic EP. I didn't really know what I was doing so it's not very good. Though listening now it doesn't sound as bad as I remember. honeybourne.bandcamp.com/track/all-th...honeybourne.bandcamp.comAll that matters, by Honeybournefrom the album Sitting Room Songs 180
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hTime passes, life happens, weddings, children, you get the picture. The Cloudies go on hiatus. But "All that matters" becomes the melody I play first whenever I pick up an instrument. Guitar, keyboard, melodica, oversize piano at Techniquest - that opening melody has been played many times. 1100
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hYou can hear how we played it on the 1998 demo that is on Bandcamp here. Cracking band, those Cloud Minders. Hope they record again soon. thecloudminders.bandcamp.com/track/all-th...thecloudminders.bandcamp.comAll That Matters (1998 Attic Demo), by The Cloud Mindersfrom the album Eclipse (1998 Attic Demos) 190
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hOf course "All that matters" wasn't going to stay on a tape for my girlfriend. It became part of @thecloudminders.bsky.social live set, one of the "Rob Sings!" segments. The band didn't rearrange it much - we sped it up, @paulkindred.bsky.social added harmonies, I did a longer guitar solo at the end 170
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 8hI wrote "All that matters" in January 1996 about my then girlfriend. So it's a love song. It's also got an opening guitar melody which is - to quote Syd - kinda catchy. I recorded it and gave the tape of it to my girlfriend as a Valentine's present that February. How sweet! 1100
Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 9hThat Ladybird book! I remember standing in my garden in Leeds comparing the constellations in the sky to the pictures in the book. And the Great Bear and Little Bear looked SO CUTE! 110

Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I wrote the software which produced inquiry forms for the ONS in the mid 90s. There was an output buffer called "BUFFOUT", and an input buffer called "BUFFIN". Buffin was of course the nickname of Dale Griffin, drummer in Mott The Hoople, also the name of one of our Burmese cats. 040

Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Yes it was off camera but he was getting more and more worked up at Audrey's house, then walks off screen and bang he's on the floor dead. It was more about dying at Audrey's house and Bev waiting at the altar, and what happened afterwards. I watched it back then and last year's repeats too. 010

Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The BBC's position is now "Would this work better as a podcast?" I thought podcasts were supposed to be like radio shows. So the BBC is saying "Would this radio show work better as a radio show?" 170

Rob Morgan @durutti74.bsky.social · 09/10/2026It's almost as if the producers are whispering in the traitors' ears "Recruit someone shit at this". There's faithfuls under the radar - Kenny for a start, and Michael - who would be far less suspicious traitors. 230
