But by the time of Last Ditch's monthly community meeting on September 11, only one of the original founders, Matellian, is still involved. The two others stepped back from the daily operation months before, Matellian says, citing various pressures and health issues. One had enrolled in clown school.

we don’t talk fantasy football on here because it’s boring to talk about your own league, but this week’s random rule in chaos league is insane - every team’s starting lineup is expanded by 10 players
STORM THE GATES: This week, an all out brawl ensues as your bench spots swell to 10 spots and flood into your starting lineups as Superflex positions!

it's been an open secret in this small town that the child is possibly not autistic, and that her out-of-state adoptive parents shoved her in front of the press for PR. they reopened an also-ran breakfast restaurant and were looking for publicity, and people bought it hook, line, and sinker.
A recording of the Seacoastonline interview with LeBlanc at his restaurant on its opening day still exists.

In the 22-minute recording on May 23, David LeBlanc mentions the roosters — calling them chickens — only once, while standing on the lawn in front of the restaurant. LeBlanc pointed out the roosters, noting some had been knocked down during a storm the night before.

“The town of Ogunquit says you can’t have an ‘Open’ flag,” LeBlanc said at roughly the 12-minute mark of the recording. “You can fly the American flag, you can fly the Maine flag, but you can’t say ‘Open’.”
In the recording, LeBlanc explains that he asked the town official who informed him about the sign ordinance, “Well, what do I do, then?” According to LeBlanc, the town official told him, “Tell us you’re open without a flag.”

“So we went and bought all the roosters they had in Sanford,” LeBlanc said, referring to Tractor Supply Company, a chain store in that community. “I bought them out … We’re going to make it part of our thing, you know?”

Earlier in the interview, LeBlanc mentioned his daughter only to say she enjoys the ocean and that the family’s move from Vermont to Maine has been good for her. He did not connect his daughter to the roosters during the interview.

something worth noting from the wachtell lipton report, which isn’t being reported on: research is still occurring and the investigators expect more to be revealed. they just had enough on aspiration for the NBA to announce a punishment. from page 6:
Given the scope of this matter and its complexity, there is always more that could be done and, considering the public's interest in this matter, more information will likely surface over time. Investigators continue to receive information relevant to the subjects discussed in this report, including as recently as this week. Investigators will supplement their findings as appropriate.

honestly don’t know why the NBA isn’t punishing kawhi directly when dennis very obviously did everything at his behest
In December 2021, Mr. Sanberg discussed with senior Aspiration executives his
desire for the company to enter into an endorsement agreement with Mr. Leonard on the
terms described above. Mr. Sanberg did not have the authority to sign such an agreement
on Aspiration's behalf and, according to internal Aspiration emails, the reaction among
its C-suite executives who did have this signing authority was swift and uniformly
negative: "I have no idea why we'd do this," wrote one senior executive; "this is not a
good investment of our capital [...] It's $48M over 4 years for Kawhi, who is not a big
name [....] Not sure why we would make such a commitment considering we are
already paying a huge sponsorship fee to Clippers," wrote another.
When these concerns were conveyed to Mr. Sanberg, he told the Aspiration
executives that "the Clippers are asking us to do this with Kawhi Leonard" and that the
team would provide additional business back to Aspiration to help offset the financial
impact on Aspiration. In an email exchange among Aspiration's CEO, CFO, and general counsel, one wrote, "[Mr. Sanberg said] that the Clippers are promising to increase the amount they pay us per quarter in line with what we pay this guy [i.e., Mr. Leonard]." Another responded: "Thanks for verifying... We should be fine if it's cashflow
neutral."

very good piece definitely about lab-grown meat and nothing else
And yet, despite the frenzy, the meat itself never arrived. The challenges were numerous. There was the exorbitant up-front cost of building manufacturing facilities and the daunting amounts of energy required to run them. There was the difficulty of producing sufficient quantities of the stuff, at a price point low enough for people to buy. There was the lack of a highly skilled workforce trained to operate the new technology.

my internet has been out all day (some fios bullshit after someone “came and fixed it” last week) so i’m reading hobsbawm on main
Thus in Mrs. Thatcher's Britain, admittedly an extreme case, as government and union protection was dismantled, the bottom fifth of the workers actually became worse off compared to the rest of the workers than they had been a century earlier. And as the top 10 per cent of workers, with gross earnings three times as high as those in the bottom tenth, congratulated themselves on their improvement, they were increasingly likely to reflect that, as national and local tax-payers, they were subsidizing what came, in the 1980s, to be called by the sinister term "the underclass," who lived on the public welfare system which they themselves could, they hoped, do without except in emergencies. The old Victorian division between the "respectable" and the "unrespectable" poor revived, perhaps in a more embittered form, for in the glorious days of the global boom, when full employment seemed to take care of most of labour's material needs, welfare payments had been raised to generous levels which, in the new days of mass welfare demands, seemed to enable an army of the
"unrespectable" to live far better on "welfare" than the old Victorian pauper "residuum." And far better than, in the opinion of hardworking tax-payers, they had a right to.

The skilled and respectable thus found themselves, perhaps for the first time, potential supporters of the political Right,t all the more since the traditional labour and socialist organizations naturally remained committed to redistribution and welfare, especially as the numbers of those needing public protection grew. The Thatcher governments in Britain relied for their success essentially on the secession of skilled workers from Labour. Desegregation, or rather a shift in segregation, promoted this crumbling of the labouring bloc.

Guerrero had two jobs and worked long days. He spent mornings at a veterinary clinic, cleaning the facility, and then switched to food delivery after his shift was over, his father said.
"He had a lot of visions to get ahead in life, a lot of dreams to achieve,'
" Durán said in Spanish. "He is a marvelous son, and I don't know why they did this to him. ... He was a person who was brought up with values."
He said Guerrero had legal work authorization in the US and was routinely checking in with immigration authorities.
His life was his family, Durán said.
"It is a deep pain that they have caused us," Durán said, calling his son's death unjust.
He said he's praying for justice.

Upon closer inspection, though, his complaint is not exactly as it seems. The "diversity" he's referring to is that often-dreaded "diversity of ideas," a type that the Smiths frontman claims the BBC is neglecting by refusing to give his new track, "Notre-Dame," any airplay.
