That is an incredible tax fact. Was fairly clear the IHT was not a great idea, but just how bad it is really interesting. Great thread too

Kemi Badenoch wants to exempt the family home from inheritance tax. But that creates a perverse incentive for elderly people to *upsize* to save IHT. That could double the cost of the policy, and push £100bn+ from savings into housing. A 🧵 on bad tax cuts.

The thing is, this isn't some gotcha memory test about "what precise amount of money will this cost/raise" of the type beloved by interviewers in election campaigns. It's the most basic question imaginable - "how will this thing work?" She has no idea.

She’s just bonkers. Her logic just doesn’t end anywhere rational-She’s said something ridiculous off top of her head in past & now spending a life time making more & more idiotic arguments to try & justify the draft thing. Rather than just backing down when she worked out what she said was ludicrous

Just 4 months after the local elections, Reform UK (RefUK) have lost 158 of their local councillors: -55 resigned -42 went Independent -28 defected -24 were kicked out -5 lost their seats -2 disqualified -2 suspended. Appalling record - and a waste of taxpayers’ money!

Incredible moment in the doc when Farage’s right-hand man Dan Jukes lists several foreign donors who’ve given money to the party via their kids. It’s not just one or two backers - it’s a huge conspiracy cooked up by the party to break the law. It’s bigger than we even thought

Grapes or bunches? Surely no vine can grow just 3 grapes- that would be suitable for some award or something- especially if the vine is cleverly positioning them from reach of the vine owner
