Hi all,

We’ve published a proper Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for the dummy.cafe PDS / hosting provider.
They are available at the following links:

We aren’t changing anything about how we run the service, what is allowed/isn’t allowed, etc. - rather, the point of this is just to formalize the way we have already been running it.

The Privacy Policy also goes into detail about what data we store, how backups work, who our infrastructure providers are, etc etc...

If you have any questions or concerns at all about either document, please feel free to reach out to me, either in reply to this email or by Signal/Discord as always.
Anything that looks ambiguous/might be interpreted wrong, anything you’d like more detail on, clarifications on specific content, etc.

PS. If you see something on our PDS that you think probably shouldn’t be there (i.e. anything illegal), we would always appreciate that you reach out to us first, before Bluesky moderation or making it public. We can always be reached the usual ways. (email at hi@dummy.cafe or Signal/Discord)

Due to scheduled maintenance, posts and interactions made between 01:39 and 02:41 UTC today (August 16) may be delayed in showing up.

As of 02:41 UTC on Aug 16, the network relay(s) have restored their connection with the dummy.cafe PDS and are picking up new posts and interactions again.

Posts and interactions made between 01:39 and 02:41 UTC on Aug 16 may be delayed in showing up, but we expect them to be backfilled soon.
Either way, they are not lost, as they still live on the PDS and are visible on apps that don't rely on the relay (e.g. Red Dwarf).

If you need a post you made during that period to show up quicker, we recommend deleting and re-making the post.

Hi all,

As you may know, the dummy.cafe PDS / hosting provider is currently hosted in Nuremberg, Germany.

It has come to my attention that both our current cloud provider and data jurisdiction might not be optimal, due to a variety of factors.

As such, the dummy.cafe PDS / hosting provider will be migrated to be hosted in the jurisdiction of Finland, with backups in Spain as before.

We expect to carry out this work within the next few days. During the process, the service may experience some downtime.
We'll try to keep it minimal (a few minutes at a time) and generally expect no downtime at all, but please do keep an eye on the status page if you run into any errors - we’ll post any updates there.

If you have any questions, please feel free to either reply back to this email, or message me on Signal/Discord.
