Like everything with this, it's been complicated. The stans claim the ID didn't match because a 13 yo boy misidentified circumcision. Every single investigating officer (& Carl Douglas who was on MJ's legal team) confirmed that the ID matched. The settlement came very soon after the strip search.

So...they filmed more. But when MJ paid off Chandler with $25m after he correctly ID'd specific markings on his dick, there was a clause that said he Jordy allowed to be used in any dramatisation. So there's half a film in the can that they're just gonna fill in with different scenes. Sounds great.

I don't think it's even just that. His albums after Thriller all have the same format. There's rarely a surprise. And he was doing all the same hoary old routines for decades. Madonna never put that conical bra on again, but MJ sure kept re-doing that Billie Jean performance that was good in 1983.
