US heritage railroads are really something. The Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society operates trains that stop by the Amtrak station in Tyrone. So you can get on the train here transferring from Amtrak, right? No of course not why would you be able to do that - you can only get on in Bellefonte.

ah yes, the yield sign goes AFTER the crosswalk

a channelized right turn at the intersection of 69th Street and 17th Avenue Southwest in Calgary. A crosswalk crosses it from between a break in a concrete barrier at the edge of the sidewalk. A yield sign faces traffic using the channelized right turn but it is placed on the far side of the crosswalk, ignoring the need to yield to pedestrians.

Well I'm on the Downeaster, Alexa

Amtrak F40PH locomotive 90406 at the platform at North Station. This unit no longer provides traction power and is used only as a cab car so the Downeaster doesn't need to be wyed.

So I'm in Boston and every time I get on a green line train and tap the reader by the door, the screen turns red and says "Tap CharlieCard on farebox" But the farebox by the driver is switched off and does nothing when you tap it. I see Cubic is being Cubic.

Things I can now say I have done: typed "rm -rf *" into a Terminal while I had an external backup drive plugged in. Don't worry, nothing bad happened, I had already navigated to a specific directory I was seeking to cleanse before doing this. And yes I took a gooood look at that before I hit enter.

So the NWS seems to have killed the ability to look up past weather data on their own website, the page that formerly had it 404s. climod2.nrcc.cornell.edu appears to be the intended substitute for the northeast except the webpage is completely broken and doesn't work. Cool, cool.

Another achievement of the day: rode a BMT D-Series train from Court St to Hoyt-Schermerhorn and back. It has not been possible to ride between these two stations in regular service since 1946.

With a visit to Yankee Stadium tonight, my father and I have now been to all 30 current MLB ballparks together (and a total of 35 ballparks including ones no longer around). A full circle journey which, appropriately enough, began at the old Yankee Stadium over 30 years ago.
