"The Weight," is a terrific character-driven story from film debutant Padraic McKinley. A tale of desperation during the Great Depression turns into a gripping thriller across the Oregon wilderness. Top performances, led by the fantastic Ethan Hawke.

So many found footage horror films forget they're found footage, because most of the time they end up adding jump scare effects. "I found this mysterious footage about the teens who went missing, but let me tamper with the evidence by adding effects"

Last Halloween, I watched horror films with a 2025 release date, and this year I'll watch ones with a 2026 release date. Oh, boy, did I watch some bad ones last year.

It's the start of the spooky season, and Halloween is upon us, so it's important to remember that Jesus died for our sins when he was shot six times by Dr Loomis.

''Heart Of The Beast'' is a rigorously entertaining and emotionally impactful tale of survival through the beautiful, yet harsh terrain of the Alaskan wilderness. David Ayer does an excellent job of establishing a believable bond of loyalty between a man and his best friend. Odin is a good boy.

Na Hong-Jin's "Hope" could end up being my favourite film of the year. This sprawling sci-fi action of titan-sized proportions has the most suspenseful first hour I've seen before revealing its secrets, and no matter how crazier it got on screen, it kept me engaged until the end.

It has taken the final trailer for Clayface to make me somewhat interested. Depending on how it plays out in the film, I feel nothing about cutting the eyelids open with a pair of scissors, as it’s not real skin in the film.

Zach Cregger's film adaptation of "Resident Evil" is a rampant, pulse-pounding horror that keeps escalating. Austin Abrams plays the poor schmuck clinging on against zombies & gruesome body-horror mutations. He's out of his depth, and his only relief is his scared, nervous humour

Darren @duckieisevil.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

This dark satirical look at teacher burnout and problematic students, "Bad Apples," got a reaction from me. It’s a stressful and twisted tale where no one is entirely innocent. Yet, I couldn't help feeling it struggled to fully convey its message. Saoirse Ronan is fantastic.

It's amusing when people can't seem to move on from a film they didn't like from 13 years ago. It’s like when supposed fans who know their favourite franchise has multiple adaptations are mad that something didn’t follow their favourite.
