Been kind of off line and this is the first time that I've check on your stream in quite a while. So happy to see that the Eastside Orangeys are doing well and the The. Little. Kitty. is also doing great. Cheers.

Taking out the ISFSIs and vaporizing the spent fuel would literally salt the downwind earth for decades to centuries. Scary shit.

#1. Fort Peck Dam. This will take out all dams on the Missouri and destroy all locks and bridges all the way to the Gulf. 2. Mica Dam. This will take out all hydroelectric dams on the Columbia. 3, 4. SWFPAC & SWFLANT. 5-25. Every major Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI).

The timer had activated and this was probably not a PAL protected weapon. The bomb was strategic class with “dial-a-yield”. SNL supposedly advised setting the bb to Y1. Yikes. (2/2)

My favorite story was told to me by my former boss at Sandia. It is apocryphal, but I never caught him making up shit and he had some amazing stories. Supposedly back in the day, someone at the KV plant called S NL in the middle of the night because they could hear a bomb ticking (1/2).

My experiences, including the time I was on the ground with a MP5 at the back of my neck is that I would rather be dealing with protective force (or Elite Guard in the above case) than deal with cops.

That's what my boss told me and that's the story that I told the JASONs when I briefed them over two days on CTM and the Prompt Global Strike Program. Personally, I think that hypersonics are stupid. Smart LO cruise missiles are scary AF.

stations, and strategic aircraft, but not much else. Pretty shitty as an anti-personnel weapon. Replacing the KEPS with a unitary penetrator added no value. Uneffective at UGFs. CEP wouldn't let you get good damage expectancy on a SSBN. Overall, just generally, a really stupid idea. (6/6)

code which was based on conventional weaponeering methods. It turns out that each of the tungsten KEPS were actually very similar in lethality to a 0.50 BMG round and you could treat the warhead as similar to a big-ass shotgun blast. Would be effective for radar systems, satellite ground (5/?)

of which the Conventional Trident Modification (CTM) was one of most easy to field. Well, except for the bit about starting an accidental nuclear war because a D5 launch looks the same whether it's got a nuclear payload or not. CTM really wasn't that capable. I developed the initial lethality (4/?)

He said that Mies paused for a bit and started to discuss adaptive planning capabilities (nuclear) and that Bush stopped him and said, "No. Not that." Supposedly there were no other "NOW" options available. That conversation allegedly led to the creation of the "Prompt Global Strike" program (3/?)

working in the air room (where the planning was done) every week. My former boss (Dr. Bill Ling) was in the room (probably the Global Operations Center [GOC]) with President Bush and ADM Mies (CDRUSSTRATCOM) on 9/11. He said that Bush asked Mies if there was anything that we could do "NOW". (2/?)

Here is my understanding of the CTM origin story. I used to work in the "Strategic Weapons Studies" organization at Sandia National Labs from around 2002 to 2010. Our group served as advisors to USSTRATCOM on the SIOP, and then OPLANS 8044/8010. We would typically have one or two people (1/?)

CTM was an accuracy MaRV with a conventional warhead (tungsten KEPs). Absolutely one of the most batshit crazy stupid things that I ever worked on. (2/2)

David Teter @dtc94133.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
I only learned about the E2 and LETB programs after I got involved with developing the initial lethality toolkit for CTM. I'm still not sure what E2/LETB were really up to. I remember hearing that the purpose of LETB was to be able to test multiple V-gamma trajectories from the same launch. (1/2)

There have been quite a few. This article can get you started down the rabbit hole: chutes.nl/missions/tes... I worked on Conventional Trident Modification (CTM) which was developed from the E2 (Enhanced Effectiveness) and Life Extension Test Bed (LETB) programs.

My personal experience with the B-1 was that there was always a better platform. It’s been a disappointment since the original B-1A. Just my two cents.

Not watching the Super Bowl, but took a break from the Olympics to watch the halftime show. Fuck'n A. Absolutely outstanding performance from Bad Bunny. IMHO, that's what it means to be American.

Pathetic. Part of me wants to say that I hope that they spit/etc. in their food, but working "back of house" with a lot of line cooks makes me think otherwise. Some of the best line cooks (and chefs) that I've ever worked with (or hired) were from Mexico and Central America. Fucking ICE asshats.
