I was way too young to have seen this, but afterwards, I couldn't get the image of grasping, mummified corpses everywhere like the streets of London in the third act of Lifeforce.

Lifeforce Tobe Hooper
Alt: Lifeforce Tobe Hooper. A mummified-looking corpse and a surgeon in pain. Lightning sparks between their eyes and mouths as the corpse sucks the life from the surgeon.

I might say "A New Hope" if we also include all the spin offs and sequels and include rants on YouTube as critical writing.

This period will go down as one of the greatest moments for Democrat attack ads in history. We're seeing LBJ "Daisy"-level spots daily.

Hey Google, this is just called "not falling asleep yet" and you don't need to track it as part of my sleep.
A sleep tracker app readout. The score is 8@, the duration is 7h 26m. But there's a 34 minute block of awake at the start of the graph tracking sleep states.

The rule I'm increasingly radicalized towards is "It's not Batman without Robin." Kind of an adaptation of the Tim Drake principle, but for adaptations.

Sometimes you blow forty minutes making a long list of Star Wars names. George Lucas used to keep a notebook full of names to pull from when he was writing.

Some Reaction channels react to Clue like "Can we solve this mystery before the end of the movie?" Guaranteed you can't. I'd love to show them one of the theatrical versions with only one ending, then offer to show it to them again to see if they pick up on the clues, but it's one of the other ones.

Marx and Smith were largely in agreement. Mostly about the failure modes, but Marx actually had prescriptive solutions instead of just warnings about where it goes wrong. That's why Marx gets all the fans. If Smith had solutions like stronger labor protections and Brandeisian laws he might've also.

This is the pull quote for me. The C-Suite needs to cut, but those cuts make it even less possible to meet their performance demands. I think we've artificially hit that point that has been prophesied for decades: games are finally too expensive to make. At least in the AAA corporate-led space.
"Things are still very chaotic," a current id Software employee who was granted anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly told Aftermath. "While there has been an attempt to communicate to the studios, it is still entirely in bullshit corporate speak. I still don't believe they have a clear vision for the future. The only concrete thing they have communicated is they want higher profits, and they want it now. Aggressive goals are being set that would have been unrealistic even before the layoffs. ... To say the workers within Xbox have a dim view of the future is putting it mildly. We keep thinking morale can't sink lower but the obvious incompetence of Xbox management somehow keeps driving it down worse."

In the Senate, it would be Vance and a majority of the remaining 2/3 of the Senate. In the House, it would probably be the Clerk or the Dean, although those are entirely ceremonial and not really binding, but will further enflame any "rigged" allegations.

They'll use a large Democratic win as evidence that there's some kind of fraud, just as they took late counted votes as some kind of fraud. And whether or not that allows some kind of vaguely legal method to refuse to seat the new legislature, it definitely will be used to erode faith in elections.

Dave Shramek @dshramek.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
More likely if it's a huge blowout, they'll use that as an excuse to claim tampering and fraud and try to jam up the new legislature being sworn in.

I love seeing the Maka-Eekai L4000, but I think it makes so much more sense at half the scale. I'm pretty sure that would make the cockpit regular sized and those side gun turrets about right for standard docking ports. I propose a Maka-Eekai L2000 Light Freighter.

underrated part of El-Sayed’s messaging strategy seems to be shaming journalists who ask dumb questions that play into right-wing frames. you can’t answer these in a way that satisfies them, but you can make it embarrassing enough that you impose a toll on asking.
Abdul El-Sayed: "Weijia, with all due respect, this is the third time you've asked about a Twitch streamer ... their whole game is to make us fight culture wars so that we don't pay attention to the fact the president has made $2.2 billion ... "
