While individual Borg seem to occasionally interact with others, for the most part, they are simply working as part of the Collective. As such, they have no agency. According to the most foundational definition of the zombie, the Borg are zombies!

Oy. I have thought about this a lot. Initially, as I began to work with zombies, I refuted cases of the possessed or the integrated, such as the Borg. However, as more and more variations of the zombie have seen acceptance, I have to start thinking of them at least as zombie adjacent.

Years ago, I theorized that two #horror #monsters just didn’t work in writing: #zombies and #slashers. Many fine writers have proven me wrong on the first count, and now @sgj.bsky.social has REALLY proved me wrong on the second. Wow. Slasher lore plus REDACTED! This novel does NOT disappoint!

I quite enjoyed War of the Rohirrim, even though it hits too many plot beats from The Two Towers, and I just LOVED Héra! She kills Wulf with a yonic symbol instead of a phallic one! Take that, Anduril!

As I was finalizing my end-of-year “best of” list, I rewatched Alien: Romulus. I still really like it, but it went down a point because of the opening sequence. Not to be pedantic, but remember the cataclysmic triple-explosion of the ore refinery? No way even a fragment of the Nostromo survived!
