There are always alternatives - and we are where we are at least partly because of Labour's insistence that they are the only option (and the consequent, send-serving constitutional blindness)

I note from today that you can apparently absolutely re-run a 2016 referendum, but not a 2014 one...

Best not to think *at all* about how anything from a supermarket reaches you, especially when it's been dismembered en route.

I rather fear it's more a question of a huge skip into which the legs have been mechanically ripped as the duck corpse passes through the factory and is broken down - then minimum wage semi-slaves packing up whatever comes first to hand...

During the Middle Ages, a gilt ball (now in the Musei Capitolini) on top of the obelisk was (wrongly) believed to contain the ashes of Julius Caesar.

Base of the Vatican Obelisk. Brought from Egypt to Rome by Caligula in 37 AD and erected in his Circus at the Vatican Hill. Sixtus V had it moved in 1586 to the front of the Basilica. Think of the effort in both those moves! The only obelisk never to fall since Roman times. #Rome #Photography

GHESIUS ROMANUS PO The great hall above the narthex of the Basilica of San Pietro. The central window is where the Habemus Papam announcement is made & new Popes make a first public appearance. The lettering above is at least 2 metres tall and trumpets the name of Paul V. May 2013 #Rome #Photography

Mannerist fresco in the Musei Capitolini of Marcus Atilius Regulus, Consul in the 3rdC BC. He had a horrible death in Carthage, where he was kept in a dark dungeon with his eyelids cut off and was then dragged out and forced to look at the midday sun. May 2013. #Rome

Tip of the Agonalis obelisk, placed on the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi by Bernini in 1651. The Earl of Arundel paid a deposit and attempted to ship its pieces to London in the late 1630s but Urban VIII stopped him. May 2013. #Rome #Photography

So, #Burnham. All emotional Labourism and 'not in this Parliament'. What is the point of their ill-gotten huge majority if they don't use it whilst they have it? If a government elected on 30% is a danger why allow it to happen in 2030?

Saw that earlier in The Wrap, it makes you feel warm even before the fire is on... It's a very Old Person, almost Victorian set-up that - a chair by the fire in the hall.

The grumpy man over the door of the Merchants House of Glasgow on West George Street. He may be grumpy because someone decided to drill two holes in him, or maybe because the building as a whole is filthy and covered in wires and buddleia. #Glasgow #Photography
