All of this shows that ownership rules are fucked, need to be completely overhauled. The fact that the state ownership thing is so blurred leaves everything open to political influence. The whole thing is a nightmare regardless of who wins/loses this case.

Ok let’s assume that the City appeal is successful on the grounds that it came from the gov (stop laughing) - surely they would then be in breach of Fair Market Value restrictions on sponsorship. The 2018 figure was £145m rather than the disclosed £11m - surely that £145m isn’t fair market value.

Man City should have one of the charges struck off just for making us laugh with the latest excuse

You’re right mate, stretches down to League 1 and beyond. We’ve had some owners where you just thick ‘why? What possible interest could they have in a mid table League 1 side?’.

The phrase I’m thinking of is ‘fit and proper’. Of course City should be relegated/broken up/docked points - but the fact is that the PL and FA allow these people to take over our clubs and do whatever the fuck they want regardless of 150 years of history, community and support. Fucking fix it.

Ironically, I remember during the actual 80’s a lot of people thought that the current state of ‘new music’ was really poor. How the 80’s became revered is a mystery.

Ah that’s interesting and I agree. I wonder if the distinction is that Floyd’s noodling has a purpose, repetition for psychedelic effect. Whereas with the others it’s mainly fretwankery to either show off or fill time 🤔 See also drum solos.

Is it the blues stuff? I love original blues (Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Blind Lemon Jefferson) but when Zep, the Doors and even Hendrix play the blues I find it extremely tedious.

The difference between books 1 and 2 of the Sakamoto memoir is astonishing. Book 1 is almost flippant, sketchy, races through decades at an alarming rate. Book 2 is the polar opposite, deep, thoughtful, insightful, detailed. The juxtaposition works perfectly, book 2 is deeply brilliant & moving.
Cover of the hardback copy of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s memoir ‘Music sets you free’. Also a pint of beer.

100% and any punishment should include sanctions against the owners and the PL & FA need a review and strong tightening up of their fit and proper ownership rules.

Someone at work once said “you need to watch Game of Thrones”. Me : “does it have dragons?” Work colleague :”yes” Me : “fuck that, I’m not 12” Ps Chernobyl, Saul & Twin Peaks all need to be much higher in this list.

My favourite BBD album. You’re right, the guitar playing is stunning. My own favourite track is Sound Track, the guitar on the outro 😍

Screengrab from Carsten’s Noton site. Seems like Ryuichi and Carsten decided to release it before Ryuichi passed way. As such my use of ‘reworkings’ is an inaccurate description as they were in effect collaborating. 🖤

I love Carsten’s work but I’m not sure what to make of these reworkings of Sakamoto’s 12 album. He’s more than qualified (as a friend and regular collaborator) but that album was perfect and deeply moving due to the circumstances it was made under. I don’t think this adds to the beauty or power.
