Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Damn, if you're going to charge twenty quid for a baked potato, at last have the common decency to get the skin crispy. I do that regularly at home, it's not the world's greatest culinary challenge. 180

Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 08/10/2026You can skip the parboiling, just give them a shake in oil and air fry 25-30. Won't be quite as crispy, but decent toasties regardless if the distinction from Parmentier bothers you. If not, same thing in 1 - 2cm cubes and it will probably be done in 15. 000
Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The parboiling is just to allow the outsides to fluff up and hold a bit more oil for crispness. I used to do it when roasting them in the oven! 100
Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Normal roastie size chunks, parboil for five mins, shake (with a little flour if you want extra crispy), coat in oil (plus any herbs or garlic you feel like), air fryer 200 for 20 - 25 mins. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. 100

Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 06/10/2026"Zionism" has become an essentially useless term. One side uses it to mean "Jewish people deserve a homeland", so anyone opposing it is antisemitic, and the other to mean "anything Israel does is fine", so anyone endorsing it loves genocide. Both deliberately refuse to address this semantic rift. 060

Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It's weird, because I always thought the main element of limp lettuce was texture rather than flavour, so I would have assumed that recognising the latter without the former would be challenging. This grand culinary experiment has proven this conjecture was incorrect! 120
Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 06/10/2026This is blatant wokery! How dare they change the sacred names of the Great Old Ones? They were constructed by a master of the language, not just made up, and why should it matter if it sounds a bit like a bad word? It's not like Lovecraft was a massive racist. Marcus Hill @drmarcushill.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I look at many novelty crisp flavours and avoid them for exactly this reason. Even if they manage to replicate the flavour exactly, I am always left wondering why you would want to do so in crunchy potato texture. 110
