I have 4 dogs and a cat. One is terrified of smoke. To the point if there's any smoke in the kitchen (we use fast iron) he is hiding. I hope and pray I'll never deal with a fire with him because I don't think he'll let me save him.

Because most human shelters won't take animals. Because they have minutes to get out and the pets are hiding. Because a lot more reason than I'm gonna list. Until you've been in the situation do not judge. -a shelter veterinarian
