Not great quality because it was dark but it was funny to see this motorbike #frog chilling on a branch so I had to get some pics.

I was trying to make a logo for something at work & accidentally created this... the start of a romantic comedy about 2 unlikely lovers - a dugong & a velvetworm. Or perhaps a unique wedding cake topper? 🤣

I couldn't find a good/clear photograph of the leg setae so this will have to do 😅 (they're a nightmare to image even with good microscopes). Admittedly this species has a lot more setae than most. I think the setae on the last article (C & D) look quite similar to the ones in the pics you shared.

Yesterday I saw these beautiful flannel flowers - the common name refers to their soft fuzzy petals. I think this is Actinotus leucocephalus (Apiaceae) from the Perth Hills,Western Australia.

I love a good spider-themed cartoon. This one by Extra Fabulous who don't seem to be on Bluesky yet but a link to their insta is below. Any other great arachnid cartoons out there for #Arachtober? instagram.com/extrafabulou...
A cartoon by Extra Fabulous. It has 4 panels: the 1st shows a large spider walking through a city and accidentally walking into overhead powerlines. In the 2nd panel the spider says "ew". In the 3rd panel the spider says "I walked into a human web...I hope I didn't get any on me..." (the spider looks unhappy). The last panel shows a tiny human electrician clinging to the side of the spider with a speech bubble saying "HISSS"

Happy #Arachtober from this constellation of Christmas #spiders. We saw huge numbers of these lovely critters along the sides of the path and above us. They're often seen in large numbers in December. No danger to humans - they stay politely in their webs 🙂 (Images from 1 Jan this year)
