The Supreme Court case tomorrow is fundamentally not about gender affirming care, it's about whether or not trans people have any protections under the 14th amendment. A loss in this case would greenlight a torrent of explicitly discriminatory legislation without much, if any judicial recourse.

Book cover for this is how it always is by Laurie Frankel. The background is blue and meant to be the sky. The bottom 5% of the cover is black and made to look like the ground. The black silhouette of a person is standing on the ground and has a hand-drawn outline of Buttefly wings on their back. The outline is yellow. The title is in white in a handwritten script font. Each word is on its own line. The title is centered over the person and takes up the top 75% of the cover. On each side of the title, it looks like there are 2 quoted endorsements. The subtitle “Leading teams to peak performance” is in white letters superimposed on the colorful liquid in the beaker.

Book cover for The Kitchen Counter Cooking School by Kathleen Flynn. Subtitle: How a few simple lessons transformed nine culinary novices into fearless home cooks. The cover has a white background. The authors name is centered at the top. Below that is the title and then the subtitle. The bottom 1/3 of the cover has a kitchen counter with a chef behind it and two women sitting on the sides, across from each other. They are both wearing aprons and looking at the chef. The chef is in a white coat with two rows of buttons and a blue hat. The woman on the left is wearing tan Omar’s and a green shirt. The woman on the right is wearing black pants and a pink top. The women are sitting on tall barstools. The chef is holding a knife in one hand. She is holding something else in the other hand but I can’t tell what it is. Around the top and side borders are many kitchen tools and food: carrot, rolling pin, strainer, spatula, grater, measuring cups and spoons, onion, eggplant, radish, and a few others I’m not sure what they are. On the front of the kitchen counter is black text that says “from the author of The Sharper your Knife the less you cry.”

Do you like 1) a color-coordinated tree or 2) one with all different ornaments? My daughter is in camp #1 and currently controls the tree decorating. I’m firmly in camp #2 and prefer to hang a hodgepodge of ornaments that I’ve collected over the years. I love the memories they evoke. How about you?
On the right side there is a Christmas tree decorated with red ornaments and white lights. There is a red and white tree skirt underneath. To the left of the tree is a living room. There are two chairs. In the chair closest to the tree, there is a black and white cat curled up and sleeping. Behind the tree all the way to the left, you can see a tall plant growing up the wall. Behind the chairs is a window with tall white curtains.

My daughter lives in Middelburg, Zeeland in the Netherlands. She gets to witness gorgeous sunrises on a regular basis. I am envious. ❤️
View from a balcony. The sun is just coming up. You can see the rooftops of several buildings and a tall spire in the background. The buildings are still mostly in the dark. The sky is a lovely pinkish-peach color. There are lots of clouds. The clouds at the top of the photo are grey and white. View from a balcony. The sun is just coming up. If you want to understand what life was like before abortion became legal, I highly recommend reading Looking for Jane by Heather Marshall. Making abortions illegal doesn’t stop abortions: it just makes it harder to get a safe one.
Book cover. A white woman is walking away from us. She is wearing a navy blue coat that is knee-length. She is carrying a leather bag that looks like an old-fashion doctor’s bag. There are buildings on the right side of the cover and it looks like she is walking on a brick road or path. Superimposed on top of her is the dial ring of an old rotary phone. It has the numbers and letters in each finger hole. It is partially transparent so it does not block the picture of the woman. Superimposed on top of that is the book title Looking for Jane. Basically, there are three layers to the book cover. The bottom is the woman walking away, the middle is the rotary phone dial, and the top is the title. I am new at alt descriptions. Please leave me feedback on how I could improve.
