Ireland is set to increase its state pension by €10 a week, taking annual payments to the equivalent of £13,654.98 🇮🇪 The SNP say the move is a 'wake-up call' and shows what's possible when independent countries have full control over their own finances and welfare system 👇

Heating oil has gone up over 100% A lot of Scotland isn’t even on the gas network. It took over a year to get a three phase supply installed. Green energy is only a thing is you can get the electricity support needed.

There is no point in engaging with zopster. Clearly a unionist troll. Any company is closed by the company owner, yet apparently those that are rescued are excluded in zopsters thinking process. Selectively picks and chooses what is legitimate and what is not.

This is the cohort that needs convincing to shift the polling. Direct the campaign to where it’s needed. Ps, it’s an ambition. No need to justify how, just that developing a successful Scotland will be directed to having better pensions.

To be fair, its what colonialists like to do. Undermine the entity they are controlling. And yes, I am concerned with the terminology, because it’s designed to be exactly what it is. The only entity that doesn’t have a “grant” is England 🤷 Enjoy the union while you can. It’s not going to last.
110
John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Its noticeable that you can’t refute simple mathematics without demanding (very colonist attitude) that I have to prove the numbers. 1+1=2. It’s a mathematic calculation. I don’t need to provide a paper published in some scientific journal to state the answer. Prove the numbers are wrong.
000
John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
If you not concerned by the terminology, why do you call it a grant? Why did you say the English expenditure was just public money? Unconscious bias or just plain vanilla bias?
100
John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
You response is completely divide of anything other than your own heightened opinion. Why don’t you disprove the maths 1. Bond yield 20-year gilts 5.8% - Google it 2. Population - Google it 3. Allocation of National debt on a population % - Google it Or are you too dim to use a calculator?
110
John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
And it’s not public money in Scotland? It’s apparently a “grant” What is the value of the grant that England gets? E Is it never referred to by the BBC?

John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
You says it dubious. Where is your evidence that the math is incorrect?

John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
RUK picks up their % debt interest 800 x 0.058 x .92 = £42.7m But, turn that into a population proportioned debt £46.4m Scottish debt payment = £8.44 £42.7m RUK debt payment = £0.63 Per person Is that good enough for you?
000
John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Word salad. If £10bn is spent in RUK, Scotland picks up a population % of the national debt interest 10,000 x .058 x .08 = £46.4 annual debt interest Scotland then gets allocated an additional population % spend (to compensate) £800m a this example Continued…

John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
What would you like to call the money that it’s spent in England?
100
John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Let’s do the math. £30bn of debt. 10 year Gilts at 5.8% =0.058bn (£58m). RUK picks up 92% = £53m. Population 62m. Cost per head £25.81 per person (in E&W) HS2 £100bn x 5.8% x 8% = £464m Scottish population 5.5m Cost per head for HS2 in Scotland £84.36 £25.81 v £84.36 And your point?

John M 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺 @drjohnm61.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

A super majority would allow the nationalist supporting parties to change the voting system to (say) FPTP and call a new early election. This is what the FPTP results were for the last election. It becomes increasingly difficult to argue that Westminster has a mandate but Scotland doesn’t:

This is what would have happened for each band % move of SNP lost votes to the SGP (based on actual results): Just an 8% swing would have knocked Labour and Reform out of the joint second place. 55% would have give a super majority (an official thing).

Grangemouth used to produce around 12% of the diesel needs of the UK. Other infrastructure has been rescued as its been deemed critical. Maybe considering the critical lack of diesel, the UK government could get the Grangemouth refinery back up and running.
