There was a kid in the neighborhood who often said incorrect things and misunderstood how stuff worked, but he could not, even when physically beaten (in middle school gym class, yes) be bullied into agreeing or even shutting up. I'd like to know how he's doing now. He certainly gained my respect.

Once the contraitor statue was forced off of UNC campus the neoconfeds had to hide it to prevent "vandals" from continuing to attack it. Reminds me a little of the Haymarket police statue.

I signed a noncompete once. It was supposed to be narrowly worded to avoid employees hopping over to the crosstown rival but was bs that would prevent me from mowing lawns on the side.

Careful design to avoid bugs is much more important than committing featuritis, too. Defects from generated code can be insanely difficult to locate.

Think of the feeling of various (mechanical) knobs. I replaced the RV's shower knobs & the new are sooo smooth & precise & damped just right. The first time I noticed was in HS when a friend got a Blaupunkt stereo. Good unit but early rotary encoders that felt horrible. Even today many feel cheap.

I think we should block traffic on our street. It's one thing to stop a van at the corner and unload a crowd to work the block. It's quite another, and it sucks, to drive from house to house.
