🌋What is #Kīlauea up to? #USGS #HVO reports October 9that that north & south vent spattered overnight with strong glow visible. The summit remains highly pressurized and we could get more lava fountains, magma intrusions or an eruption in a different location at the summit in the coming days/weeks.

In late 2024, in collaboration with The ‘Alalā Project, MFBRP released a group of five young ‘alalā, or Hawaiian crows, into the Kīpahulu Forest Reserve. ‘Alalā were last seen in the wild in 2002 on Hawai‘i Island, following a sharp decline through the 20th century.
