Pingtung, in Taiwan, has been battling large, invasive lizards for years (true story — you can read about it here: www.rti.org.tw/en/news?uid=...). I personally didn't believe these stories until yesterday, when went to our local park and saw the evidence with my own eyes.

A small offering. It was my nana’s funeral on Monday. I just love this poem by GF Dutton. I took this photo on my way to the crematorium and the weather was uncannily warm for England in October. The leaves are quite green for this time of year, but they are beginning to fall.

In Scotland, we provide free personal care for older people without punishing pensioners. Andy Burnham removing the triple lock would simply repeat the mistakes of Keir Starmer. The blame for the UK’s financial mess lies with successive Westminster governments, not pensioners.

Towards the end of my Burmese class today, we were interrupted by loudspeakers in the background: the military announcing that this month 8 young people from that particular ward would be conscripted. And I was reminded how, for those in Myanmar, this nightmare just goes on and on.
