The crime was that as the meeting ended, she spoke up because despite holding her hand up to be acknowledged at every opportunity for questions, no one called on her. It's quite obviously a back formation from the title of the game show Win, Lose, or Draw, clearly the first time anyone had used the term that way. People realized that if draw was the singular alternative to winning or losing, it must mean "a tie" This has been another egregiously false etymology

Like, there's not as much air between Donald Trump and Graham Platner as Platner would like people to believe. Trump's first campaign, when it wasn't pure racism, was actually pretty populist (not progressive!) and some of the people who voted for him are still waiting for him to wave his magic wand
