Cartoon fandom now is ran by kids that grew up on shit like Billy & Mandy, Foster's Home and those seasons of Spongebob where he looks boxy and ugly. They're so attached to this era that they take any criticism of them, including having lazy "everyone's an asshole" writing, as a personal attack.

Kids crave quality, stories that don't make them feel infantilized, and genuine attempts at earnest storytelling. Even goofy anime have moments of levity and relatable issues/problems/characters. Western studios struggle to accept that & until we do better, we're gonna keep losing those audiences.

I've been seeing a new therapist, and they've been really helping me find better ways to cope than rumination. It's lifted a lot off my shoulders, but part of me really wishes I could just talk to those I've hurt when I was at my lowest
