This is really cool! Love that you built an integration for your homelab for managing it with AI. Do you have scopes that it is allowed to work in or give it full root?

It was converting a python2 tool to Python3 so I could download bootcamp drivers for a 2015 MacBook Air without having macOS installed on the device. Made a pull request but alas the repo was abandoned. The tool is called Brigidier if you’ve heard of it.

I used a similar design pattern to embed my Bluesky posts in a page on my portfolio. Your solution is a little more clean than mine. Well done!

Laptop case died. Time for new stickies.
A collage of stickers on the back of a MacBook Pro, including: a logo for the ability student group at the Paul g Allen school; a park punks meetup sticker, a g666gle sticker, a pink Nintendo ds with am eyeball demon coming out of it, hatsune miku, a pink flying saucer picking up a cow, a morelitea sticker, and “no one is illegal” in Dutch.

Sadly the site is broken on Safari, the site reloads too many times and the system leads to a blank page. Seems like the trib needs a JavaScript and web developer to fix their issues.

The result is that everything works, WiFi, Thunderbolt, trackpad, display. Just works. If anyone has #lastgen hardware laying around, it’s definitely worth considering this option if you aren’t familiar with Linux or need native Office Suite. My friend does not know Linux so this should work!

The main thing was rewriting brigidier to download the bootcamp drivers. The program is written in Python2 so I migrated it to Python3 using 2to3 and I put the script in a fork of the main project on GitHub. github.com/andrewpking/...

One of my friends is volunteering in Kenya this summer. He was going to bring his brand new MacBook Neo. I talked him into bringing a burner laptop but his machine died. So I installed Windows 11 on a 2015 MacBook Air and documented the steps: drewking.dev/projects/win... #hardwarepreservation

I’ve been dogpiled on here for saying something about how some people use AI to help them with certain things and it was framed as, “I love AI”, which for the record I’m very ambivalent about it. I fucking hate accounts who encourage dogpiling and I will block them now.

Drew @drewking.dev · 19/04/2026
I used its list to find accounts to follow. A bot like this could be useful to block create lists of people with actually bad takes ie: Gen AI inevitability, xenophobes, transphobes, TERFs, radical Zionists, etc. But no, we’re blocking people who don’t wholeheartedly support the talking machine.

So you don't think that AI replacing care workers and accomodations provided by humans is ableism? Or did you only read the part that was reskeeted as rage bait for clout by @tichatnwa.bsky.social ?

My quote was taken out of context as rage bait. Please read the entire thread before joining the witch hunt. I also work as an accessibility specialist. My point at the end of the thread is that AI automating access and accomodations shows a structural flaw in what society values and devalues.

Screen readers are not AI. Be My Eyes recently incorporated AI into their tooling.

Drew @drewking.dev · 12/04/2026
Where as a society are we investing our resources if the labor of caring for and accommodating disabled bodies is labour worth automating? This is the insidious ableism in the rhetoric of pro-AI apologists who hide behind positive disability principles.

Drew @drewking.dev · 12/04/2026
To drive my point home… AI is a tool built in flawed pretenses… but saying it does no good for disabled people also denies the tangible benefits it provides as a stopgap when spaces are not accessible. This does not erase the harm, but the conversation has nuance and asks questions about:

Work, schools, healthcare, and other spaces that are necessary for our survival and wellbeing.

AI can be both useful and harmful for disabled people. I help a woman who is living with macular degeneration with learning to use a screen reader and Be My Eyes has AI help sometimes and it can be incredibly helpful when it is right. On the flip side AI systemically excludes disabled bodies from:

Lastly, for Co-Pilot: display: none; CSS did the trick. How does a multibillion dollar company with leading accessibility research completely abandon users of a product that is for enterprise company. None of this is #WCAG complaint. Do better and stop forcing users to self accommodate

Drew @drewking.dev · 14/02/2026
I was able to make it accessible for me by altering the Z-Index of these elements. The site performs poorly with dark reader so I went with a simple css solution for dark mode: html { filter(90%); } seemed to do the trick.

Drew @drewking.dev · 14/02/2026
I’ve tried using extensions to hide them from the DOM, but due to dynamic class naming schemes in react for the least desirable features, they will eventually reappear. I found the only solution is to use a custom style sheet and select on data-id (since it needs this consistent to work).

Drew @drewking.dev · 14/02/2026
Copilot integration moves all of the communications around, preventing them from being interacted with properly until it is complete. The number of times I’ve tried to open a note and then landed on a completely different page due to this is a menace. These “features” cannot be disabled by users.

Is it just me or is Microsoft Dynamics CRM one big #A11Y fail? The teams button has a Z-Index of 1 and is jam packed with ARIA roles. It grabs the keyboard focus on every page, preventing people who navigate with a keyboard from easily using the app. There is no dark mode either. Rant below:

I don’t have speakers but I wanted everyone to have sound. I had to learn how to setup sinks with pipewire so I could route the audio through two PS5 controllers. No need to edit configs. I found a really good article on how to do this from the terminal. I can dig it up if anyone is interested.

the discourse on what jobs are acceptable to replace with generative AI reveals a lot about what we think of other people's jobs
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

The design seems well flushed out and I like the indicator light on the power button a lot. Definitely something I am curious about, despite typing faster on a touchscreen than mini QWERTY.

Having react preinstalled instead of downloaded for each web page would increase page load speeds significantly. React + React-Dom compressed is around 40KB, which is several cycles over TLS. Web performance would be improved a lot if PWAs could depend on react just being there preloaded.
