I try to establish pacing when planning at the start, but of course Thats not a foolproof method. 😉 The only thing I’m focused on when writing the first draft is getting the story down on paper. I can fix gaps later. You?

My event yesterday at the Virginia Book Fair was AMAZING. It was the best sales day I ever had. The place was packed all day with avid book lovers, and I came close to selling out of a couple of my books for the first time ever. Thanks for the luck, y'all! It helped! ❤️ #indieauthors #writers

In The Founder’s Seed, irolium crystals light up when the quantum Iri colonies interact with nearby unammi. Even when separated from the caverns, seedstones with both irolium and Iri will react this way. Also, much life on Iridos is bioluminescent, including the unammi people.

Managed to get a little work done on my WIP today. Complex details like checking the timeline to be sure stuff is happening in sequence, ensuring continuity, making notes in sequel plans for follow-through, and so on. Draining, isn’t it? #writers know. Gonna rest now. Read someone else’s book. 😉

Kaarina, pregnant, escapes from the only place she's ever felt safe because she realizes one of the people there isn't human. It's only later, after she's captured by a Trader admiral intent on gaining access to Kaarina's hybrid fetuses, that she realizes it was a mistake. By then? too late.

Did OK at my signing yesterday. Sold six books in four hours. Might’ve done more, but the rain scared a lot of the customers away for a while. That’s OK. My face and my name and my book covers are now in the minds of people who had never seen them before. I’m planting seeds. #writinglife🙂

Finished my first sweep through "The Way In," making all the easy changes. The second sweep will be the tougher changes--checking consistency, etc. That will take longer The hardest bits--adding tension, cutting unnecessary backstory, etc.--will probably happen next weekend. #writinglife

#writer and #edior peeps, which is correct? "He felt as though he were doing something that mattered." OR He felt as though he was doing something that mattered." I'm not sure which is the correct usage -- "were" or "was."
