Eleana (She/Her) @dreleana.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Cool work coming out of @thechunglab.bsky.social w/a very relatable origin story <3 “I started thinking about how, even in our lab, everything is single-use plastic because everything has to be sterile. Nothing can be contaminated. It all just started to feel very overwhelming for me personally,” 010
Eleana (She/Her) @dreleana.bsky.social · 03/04/2025I used to show my students Dr. Richbourg’s Hydrogel Design website all the time. It is devastating to hear about these postdoctoral funding cancellations, and all the other programs impacting trainees. We have so much talent in the US that we just need to support 010

Don’t let anyone tell you that the lash out against DEI is only coming for new programs implemented in the recent years. As engineers we work so hard to build a world for everyone, so let’s prevent people from destroying what we’ve built. 131

As an administrator I always knew that advice is not a mandate. It takes a leader's directive to convert advice to action. Leaders need to be prepared to own that directive AND its consequences.mandate.it 216157

But what is even more horrific is that many non-government scientists and institutions are self-censoring themselves because they are scared of the government and losing funding.
