Been playing a lot of Legion Remix, and we finally got the Putting the Finite and Infinite Feat of Strength today. Crushing Depths was brutal but we did it. Did I scream when the achievement popped? Maybe.

May you find clarity in the darkness. May your ancestors stand with you. May fires cleanse and protect you. Happy Samhuinn! 🔥 End 🧵

Christianity brought with it the fear of the dead and now many traditions on Samhuinn involved protections against them. Now, you can blend these ideas or not - as long as you understand the history of these ideas 🧵

Long ago, speaking to ancestors and our dead was a daily practice. Today is a good day to leave offerings, clean altars, tend to graves, and listen to the messages of those who have transitioned 🧵

Samhuinn was a time for divination. Folk practices for divination used the tools they worked with every day: herbs, plants, bows of water, bread, jewelry, and fire. Today, you could connect with some of these practices or you could use your own forms of divination 🧵

Baking bannocks for divination, offerings, and gifts were part of the practices during Samhuinn. Today, you could bake cakes or breads, such as bannock, for the very same purposes. 🧵

Samhang, or Samhuinn fires, were sacred bonfires used to cleanse fields and animals, and massive torches were walked across fields to reaffirm boundaries between trickster spirits and crops. Today, you could have your own fire or even light a candle to honor this practice and cleanse your space 🧵

Before Christianity, for the Scots the Aos-sìth were active all year. There was no veil, the people lived alongside spirits, fairies, and ancestors. Healers worked in harmony with fairies, leaders consulted their ancestors. Now, many believe the veil thins, allowing spirits to walk the Earth 🧵

With the arrival of Christianity, Samhuinn became a night of liminal spaces and wandering ghosts. And, it's important to note that there are differing folk practices between communities and cultures. Both Ireland and Scotland celebrate Samhuinn, but the beliefs & practices & histories vary 🧵

Oíche Shamhna shona duit! The Coligny Calendar informs us that Samhain, or Samhuinn, fell on the 2nd new moon after the equinox - this year, that's today 🌑 Long ago, Samhuinn was a night of revelry, purification, & consecration of harvest, families, and animals 🧵

Kitties also do this when they are SUPER excited or overstimulated, so maybe suddenly she just hit her wall of excitement and that was her way of saying "okay I'm getting overstimulated and we gotta stop." It's a signal for alarm, yes, but it's also a signal for a sensory limit.

As many of you know now, my sweet Thor baby recently passed. I had to take him to emergency vets, and although they did everything they could, his little heart just couldn't take it all. The treatment and surgery was expensive and I'm trying to recover. Thank you <3 tilt.fyi/zpazx4UGLR

YOU gotta give yourself a little compassion. You're making your decisions on her behalf with love in your heart. That IS doing right by her, actually. How old is she? Is she just a baby?

Kittens are tough - and cats are all so unique and it takes time to get to know them and their quirks and needs. I am not an expert, but I have had a lot of cats & kittens. I'm happy to brainstorm in DMs if that is helpful! 💜

I have some very sad news. Around 1:40am early Wednesday morning, Thor quietly passed away at home. I hate that I am posting this everywhere, I am just trying to cover my bases. Thor had a progressive heart disease and a gnarly cancer. I am heartbroken and lost. Rest easy my sweet boy.

I'm currently in an area experiencing such extreme and serious drought. Our well has run dry so we've been using bottled water. The limited water we can get delivered has to be used so carefully. I'm grateful we have the resources to manage this, but fuck if this isn't challenging to manage.

I would guess that this is one in the same, as the Triple Goddess is the concept of the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. The idea is essentially that these are the three stages of a woman's development and the cycle of life, and they connect it to the moon cycles as well.

110

Lady Dread @dreadvoidwitch.bsky.social · 16/09/2025

Absolutely! Thank you for checking in first my friend

110

Lady Dread @dreadvoidwitch.bsky.social · 16/09/2025

While some of you may say "but that calls to me and feels right" and I hear you, but to rewrite ancient Goddesses to match neopagan belief systems is to erase the cultures they are from. Don't call this concept ancient. In these cultures, the concept of the Triple Goddess did not exist.

161

Lady Dread @dreadvoidwitch.bsky.social · 16/09/2025

Hekate is not a Triple Goddess. Brigid is not a Triple Goddess. The Cailleach is not a Triple Goddess. The Morrigan is not a Triple Goddess. The Triple Goddess is a neopagan concept created by a poet in the 20th century to mimic the Holy Trinity of Christianity. These Goddesses are far older.

Lady Dread @dreadvoidwitch.bsky.social · 14/09/2025

The Celts never referred to the equinox as Mabon. In 1973 an American witch created a neopagan calendar. He disliked that it lacked balance between the equinox and the solstice, so he named them himself: Mabon and Litha. Use the calendar you wish, but don't call Mabon an ancient celebration.

Watching the Nosferatu remake finally. The occult elements? The visuals?? The ambiance??? The horror elements???? 10 out of 10. What a good vampire film.
