A few, perhaps only one or two, hostile guests were wrecking a hostel room at the Reckon Inn—a collegiate wrecking, one assumes, though the Bursar might prefer to enter it as unfair wear and tear. One, and maybe more, expects, I #reckon, there to be at least one reckoning, possibly two. #vss365

Hungry, hungry hippos. Are these hippos exceptionally hungry? Constantly hungering? Hippos with endless, insatiable #hunger? Perhaps they a unique species of hippo—the hungry hippo—and this particular group of hungry hippos are hungry, in the normal sense, craving grass and watermelons. #vss365

It was a dark and #stormy night—then it got darker. The storm? Stormier still. Truly, one of the darkest and stormiest nights I have dared describe on paper, and I've read Paul Clifford. In fact, I have a signed copy. It's signed "Owen Meredith", but therein lies the dark and stormy charm. #vss365

I care not—nor do I care—for face fillers and botoxifiers; a face is a face is a face, and that face has no place filling its face with face-puffing products. Now I'm no pomologist, but one can achieve the same result biting into a Bramley, an otherwise #marvellous puff-pastry apple. #vss365

A copy of Elwyn Brooks White’s "Charlotte’s Web", a #marvelous read, rests on a dusty shelf, draped in cobwebs. Alas, there are no words woven into their silk. #vss365 #poem #micropoem #poetry #poetrycommunity #writing #dpp #prose #emoetry #poets #poetrycommunity #blueskypoetry #books #booksky

I wondered what Samuel Johnson had to say—and, perforce, to write—about the word #marvel in his original copy, or indeed any copy of the original "A Dictionary of the English Language", and was distinctly less than astonished with the result, and as a reult, feel my wonder decidely wane. #vss365

What man dresses poor words on deckle-edged sheets? The paper is no more the poem than the vatman is a poet. A crusted turd— garnished with buttered spuds and sprouts— is still a turd. #prose #emoetry #writing #poets #poetrycommunity #blueskypoetry #dpp

What realms remain for us to #explore? What lies beyond weathered oak doors? Pray, let those stubborn hinges swing; unhook the latch; let wonder in. Unless we look beyond—or within— the black dog lets himself in. We shan’t let intrusive thoughts rule: better to be foolish than to be fooled. #vss365

One #vss365 #prompt each day is #sustainable; two are unmanageable. Three words in a single day? #Unfathomable — unless one has ready access to a submersible, preferable one not operated with a wireless game controller.

My first (and only) screw-down letterpress cost a pretty penny—far dearer than typical pennies. Little else could a (dreadfully) poor #writer do to guard their work from unscrupulous reviewers. I had considered a #chop, but an earnest editor warned it was a certified path to the slush pile. #vss365

It paid well to be a performance consultant, ex tempore, tho not 'well' in the monetary sense. "All right, professor. You sat out there on an aisle seat on my nickel. Stop blowing smoke about the curtain call and tell me the truth: where did the middle of Act One die, and why was it Chico's fault?"
