🧪 Enemies of Science In 1919, the U.S.A. had 179,829 measles cases annually! A vaccine was introduced in the 1960s, and by 2004 there were just 37 cases per year. Now, in 2026, there have been 3,887 cases of measles through October 1st. The video explains (partly) the vaccine hesitancy 👇 #science

Lyrics include things like: “Tatterdemalion and a junketer There's a thief and a dragonfly trumpeter” it’s a fantastical painting. The artist Richard Dadd was institutionalised after a psychotic episode led him to stab his own father.

(2/2) Ultimately all of this creates an unreliable scientific record and your going to get a lot less for your money as it’ll be harder and harder to sort the wheat from the chaff; to sort the reliable from the unreliable. #philsky

We are concerned that A.I. may pose an existential threat but our history with technology is already fraught. WW1 the first post-industrial global conflict and then WW2 ending with the atomic bomb. Machines have always carried existential risk as well as a hope for a better present/future.

News stories this week warn that there is a 10% chance A.I. will wipe out all of humanity. But my concern isn't A.I. versus humans; instead, I'm worried about A.I. plus unscrupulous, self-serving humans who will sell out humanity for their own benefit. #AIApocalypse #Skynet #FutureOfHumanity

It’s a great question. An example of one of Life’s ratchets prob the best example. Lane might say its origin is synonymous w/ the origin of life itself, of a separation of charge/geothermal energy gradient powering the transition to life. For me I’m not sure but it’s a remarkable machine.
