Red tape. Low reimbursement rates. Delayed payments. We heard from more than 500 psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists who each faced a moment when they decided they had to leave their insurance network. (Published Aug. 2024)

Why I Left the Network
Those who need therapy often have to pay out of pocket or go without care, even if they have health insurance. Hundreds of mental health providers told us they fled networks because insurers made thei...

I'm not embarrassed to say that one of my BlueSky pastimes is immediately blocking accounts that post lazy political memes. My timeline is much cleaner, and the experience is so much better because of it. As a side note do block lists have a cap? Asking for a friend.

This is correct. Any candidate cynically “triangulating” on trans kids is a non-starter, and now is the time to say so. There’s still so much time to advance candidates that DON’T suck.

If one guy holds most of the tech people rely on, it is a vulnerability, but also it's one guy: as a global population we should be able to easily just take it from him, so it seems to me the real vulnerability is an internalized belief that private ownership is more sacrosanct than human thriving.

A 60 hour in-office workweek will kill life satisfaction, romantic partnerships, and lower birth rates. I haven’t seen one shred of evidence to support longer work weeks as a factor to improve productivity levels. I’ve only seen the opposite.

Popular or not Dems cannot bend on the need for trans people to be treated with basic humanity and respect. If we give up that because the right made trans people unpopular, we give up everything. They’ll dice us group by group like a salami. We die on this hill or we die alone in a ditch

The last 10 years have exhausted my own expectations of rules, norms, and ethics. What’s even more sinister is that now I continue to question whether humanity is inherently good or evil. Recently, I don’t even question if evil, obviously wrong things will go unchallenged and eventually win.

“Growing holes” Call it what it is. It’s greed fueled by the everlasting push for more profits and privatization at the expense of safety and the health/well-being of others. Capitalism must end. At the very least be reigned in more than ever before. This is madness.

Therapy. These men need therapy. These men normalize clearly defined traits of anxiety as “masculine instincts” and it’s clearly impacting their mood states and close relationships.

one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

great article about the devaluation of absolutely anything where women achieve 50%. which is a thing.
screenshot from the article:

Other disciplines that have experienced male flight include:

Biology. While most STEM professions remain male dominated, 10 years ago biology became a 50/50 male/female split. By 2022, 62% of biology majors were women. Biology is now often considered the “easiest” of the STEM majors.

Interior Design. William Morris is considered the father of interior design. After finishing his education at Oxford, he began an architectural design school called “the Firm”— just for men. Many universities had interior design programs. Until women began to enter the design space, at which point it was relegated to a mere “hobby.” Since the influx of women, interior design programs have been pulled from almost all universities.

Teaching. In the 18th century, schooling in colonial America was reserved for the white and the wealthy. Most tutors were men who taught boys. By the middle of the 19th century, girls started becoming students and women became teachers. Consequently, men swiftly left the profession, the pay dropped and teaching was no longer considered a prestigious occupation.

Similar patterns of male flight have occurred in nursing, cheerleading, social work, architecture, gymnastics, library sciences and psychology.

The same forces that enable a slew of executives to deny healthcare to citizens with no penalty also encourage the courts to punish the woman for nothing more than a whisper of a “threat” with prison. Compassion is dead. Only punishment and greed remain. Talk about toxic for the soul.

Everyone wants to scream regulations, but IMO executives don’t get nearly enough scrutiny historically for the almost inhuman decay of ethics that has permeated business culture. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING to increase their bottom line. This isn’t sustainable for a functioning society.
