So, I guess I've been slightly successful. It's not enough to quite a day job, but it's offered me some perks I'd normally not be able to afford. Self-publishing is expensive though, with having to pay for your own marketing, websites, software, artwork, tools...

My books started off as serial romantasy novels on websites like Wattpad and Inkitt. I was told during a Write Hive event that no agent or publisher would even look at a serial romance series. While it's not enough ot live off of, I have a dedicated readership with over 20 novels now on Amazon.

If I can be real honest, and real vulnerable here...trad publishing considers sales below 2k to be a failure. The vast majority of indie published books will never sell over 100 copies total. I'm not even close to 100. By every metric possible, I've come up short.

I've not reached 2k sales either. My best selling novel, A World Beside Our Own, has sold 1,320 copies in four years. It's why I never bothered with trad publishing.
