I posted the same thing here and there about being a trans furry pilot, and here I got a few likes and no responses. There it kinda blew up, in a good way, and I've gotten a bunch of great conversations out of it, met new people, and overall had a great experience. It's not the first or only time.

Mastodon has a wholly different vibe, but it feels way more like people are actually listening there. Here, it just feels ... empty, as if everyone is clamoring for the same pool of attention, and unless you're a whale with a billion followers, nobody cares.

Pro tip for furries on a budget who love to read: If you can't afford a furry book you really want to read, you could just ASK the author. A lot of furry writers will happily send you an ebook, and even if they don't, as long as you ask respectfully, you won't cause offense — because they get it.

Furry has been my chosen family since I was 13. I want us to grow and improve, but I fear that furry is simply openly reflecting the darker threads of society at large. I hope that we, as a community, can fix our collective hearts and be a beacon that shines through the darkness to come.

I think the problem isn't bots, but people who are behaving like bots. They're not having fun, either, I don't think. They're just blindly, desperately trying to "interact" or "repost" or format-shift memes and images, desperately trying to maintain some connection—any connection—to the whole.
